And now they’re going back to being slaves again. If people aren’t willing to fight for their own freedom, they’re not going to have any. The parents of these girls should have armed themselves, organized and fought back. They didn’t.

That’s because none of the presidents before him had the balls to declare this experiment a failure. Abandoning allies is what we do. It’s as American as apple pie. Ask the Kurds  and the Hmong.

I thought you were correct. We could never “defeat” the Taliban as long as they had Pakistan to fall back on.

We gave them Iraq too. It seems par for the course.  For a country we claim to be enemies with, we’ve done an awful lot to help Iran gain power in the ME. 

And in return for their support, the US just left all of them and their families to die at the hands of the Taliban.

Yeah they were running the country before the invasion. I suspect he’s thinking about ISIS which was a product of our Iraq invasion. They were mostly Iraqi ex-military we fired right after the invasion. 

I’m not even sure that China and their overbearing ways could “fix” Afghanistan.

but that doesn’t excuse abandoning millions of people whose livelihood, safety, and security has depended on US presence for over a decade.

I’m left wondering what people expected. We never defeated the Taliban. We signaled months ago we’re leaving. The choices seem pretty binary.

On the one hand, it’s really cute and looks well maintained. Price ain’t bad either.
