one word, Exclusivity, and because the rich are gonna rich.

What if you made twice as much and the car were only 1/4 of your salary?

you mean the golf r?

Your time is done with Jalopnik LOL

Yes, that’s called the Golf R

I’m looking to buy an ID.4 right now, and the problem I see is that there are only a few in dealerships right now and they are advertised at or above MSRP, I’ve keep an eye on the market and they are not staying in stock.

Same here, but in Montreal, where we’re also pretty all-in on BEVs. I think this is mainly because the American ID.4 factory is being built and it’s supposed to come online sometime next year. Until then, VW is mostly prioritizing production for the Euro market and are sparing only about 6k/Q to North America.

The ID.4 has only been available for about half a year, give or take, while the Model 3 has been on sale for four years.

You know what? I think I have seen those signs before... I’ll pay a wee bit more attention next time I’m stuck at a crossing!

When was the last time you were on Shinkansen trains? And which ones?

Totally agree.

Privatization has already screwed US passenger rail service because the right-of-way is largely owned by private freight companies, leaving passenger rail as a second-class citizen.

The frustrating thing for me is that we can’t have ANY nice infrastructure...we have sparse and slow train service, overcrowded and crumbling roads, and we’re hit or miss on quality airports and airlines.  If we could even have two of the three I’d be happy.

The most important part of Italy’s HSR is that the majority of it was built just in the last 15 years, on top of ancient infrastructure. Still, I can’t even work up the energy to dream of something like that in the US because whatever plan will be met with some jackass poking his head out of a trashcan full of F18's

I loved traveling around Italy by high speed train. Super easy, somoetimes I was not always 100% sure I was o the right train but I was. No airport hassles and the train station were more likely in the heart of the town than the distant airport. The Italian Police officers at the stations seemed a bit thuggish and a

Plus, lets give a hard to ride thing to a guy 240,000 miles away.  So if he falls and breaks a leg (possible at even low speeds), he has virtually zero help.
