It’s very unlikely you’ll have your hypothetical accident in a situation where no variation in steering is possible. Below a certain speed a car will not be able to change direction quickly enough to remove your gap before you stop, unless you are driving along a road that is the exact width of your car and no more.

Subscription, I’d guess. Lots of companies did similar things back then.

This one, I think. Although if I get a full size one I’m going to need a lot more Lego to put in the back.

If you are cruising at freeway speeds in that situation you’d be an idiot. In that situation (which is a regular occurrence on my daily commute) I arrive at the back of the queue expecting an idiot to pull out in front of me at the last moment. I’m not comfortable with anything more than a 15mph speed differential in

First rule of Adblock is to never mention Adblock...

I knew I should have said “no backsies”.

I’m confused by the chronology. Your first response was in reply to a post where I quoted case law which seems to suggest that the “street racers” are legally not to blame for this woman’s death.

Now playing

Guy Martin is great - he has an appreciation of all things oily.

So, in essence then (and please do correct me if I am mistaken), you have come into a discussion surrounding the death of a young woman to throw personal insults without adding anything of merit?

All we know is that the “street racers” (for it hasn’t been proved that they were racing) were nearby, and may (since it seems there was a variance in the witness statements according to the Sun-Sentinel article if memory serves) have cut her up, which possibly caused a reaction (because unfortunately we can’t ask

Which rather proves my point, don’t you think?

Again, from Webster’s

Nobody is obligated. But it’s a fairly poor show to insult someone who has bothered to do so. If people want to jump to conclusions then that’s fine, but I reserve the right to call them out on it.

I rather think it’s everyone else. Morals don’t put anybody into prison.

If there’s a car in front of me going slowly I leave a gap to it - as I wouldn’t want to hit it. I leave a much bigger gap than most people, as I’ve mentioned before, and I’ve got very good at maintaining it. I’m always wary of vehicles that I’m passing at a substantial speed differential and make sure I leave a bit

In the Sun Sentinel article (which I read after the post above) she hit the median and the barrier on the far side before stopping. It appears she didn’t touch any other vehicles.

I don’t know what you mean any more. And I don’t think you do either. Go home picoFarad, you’re drunk.

Kinja’d somewhere in the comments is a response quoting a court case where someone tried to sue Ford - a spare wheel fell off the back of an SUV, and the owner ran into traffic to collect it, and was killed. Ford won that case.

Can I have it with a mixer and one of those funny little cocktail umbrellas please? and possibly a bag of peanuts?

That’s not what the law says.
