Another SF local here - you’re sport on. I’m surprised that no one got hurt in this, as that’s a busy area with pedestrians and other traffic. If you’re not familiar with the area you will definitely wind up in a dead end.

I don’t go (too) cheap on my tools. Cheap tools wear out faster and are made from softer metal, which is a huge issue for pliers, prybars and hammers. For hammers, get a nice Estwing hammer (made in USA too) which will last you a lifetime. My dad still has his Estwing from 50+ years ago.
