Seriously - people still buy Ragu? Yuck!
Seriously - people still buy Ragu? Yuck!
Obligatory meme:
Don’t do this unless you’re experienced with doing home maintenance and know a lot of good people for the various trades (plumbing, electrical, etc.). You would be surprised at some of the sketchy shit I’ve seen in houses. When my wife and I were looking at homes, the code violations were all over the damn place.
Have a CFA or similar look at their 401k program. Many are heavy with up-front fees, poor performance, and end up losing a lot of money. I’ve avoided some plans because of this. One company I worked at had a 401k that was completely dependent on the performance of a life insurance company none of us ever heard of.…
Exactly. They were more interested in % change as opposed to the actual amount. I had one job where I was about 20% below market rate (I was laid off and needed the work badly, plus wages took off later on) and getting a job with higher pay was virtually impossible because of the difference in salaries at the time.…
I always reach out to various recruiters during the year and see what’s happening on their end. Sometimes they get a bunch of openings that opened up suddenly due to expansion or they landed a new client. It’s good to see where you match up with the industry, especially when it comes to total compensation. Also, don’t…
Here in CA it’s a law that you can ask for the salary range. That law also made it illegal to ask people what they were making, which was a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Almost always the first question I was asked.
As much as I like Linux, you do realize they make a Windows version of VLC?
VLC. No brainer. Plays virtually any file, even those that are corrupted.
I never do any prep. I just make a small amount at a time. Just add enough water and you should be good to go. If you don’t have enough then you will end up with concrete.
My usual breakfast is steel-cut oatmeal with fruit in it, usually apples, or dried cranberries or dried bluebrries. Works pretty well. I prefer to cook my chicken strips as many of the pre-cooked ones are typically rubber tasting. You could also get a $5 chicken from Costco and use that over for 2-3 days.
Picture of the suspect:
I used one during an exam in undergrad when my calculator died. I got some strange looks but it worked!
Ari Vatanen would like to have a word:
Yes! That was the name!
Reminds me when we used a company up in Seattle (forget the name offhand) where you would mail your film, and they would include your pictures in addition to a couple more rolls of film. Undeveloped film can last for some time provided the conditions are right.
Yes. The “good ole days” when you could meet family at the gate, when flying was actually civilized, and security was sane. Now it’s cattle car. I usually fly once a year, 2 max. When I traveled for business, it was Southwest all the time because of their people and also schedules to LA.
Your bit about Goto reminds me of undergrad. One CS professor said “now that you know control structures, you’ll never have to use goto ever again”. The next day someone posted a banner above his office saying “Control structures may come and go but GOTO is forever!!!”
Reminds me of a good story. I was on Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, which is very popular for cyclists. One day a Santa Clara County sheriff was in front of me going down one section. Two cyclists were in the road and the sheriff did a short tweet on the horn to let them know we were behind them in a tight area. Without…
I used to go camping at one area that was bad for mosquitoes. I just took a very hot shower, which definitely did the trick.
