Death Valley is one of my favorite places. My family used to go every Christmas for many years. It was (relatively) cooler, they had a nice celebration complete with Santa and a pinata party for all of the kids. It was a lot of fun and we spent many days exploring the place. My wife thought I was nuts until I dragged

Here in CA we use sand, especially in the mountain areas. They noticed salt was melting and killing off the trees. The sand stays in place and doesn’t require constant spreading.

Pro tip #1: NEVER eat out on Valentine’s Day. Always go out the night before or the night after.

We end up creating so many rules that it gets ridiculous and people just say “fuck it” and throw it in the garbage. The average person isn’t going to know the differences in types of plastics, even if they have that recycle logo on it. When the people working in recycling are confused, there’s a real problem.

For that money, NP.

That game was epic! I saw that live and was laughing so damn hard at the call!

One reason why you always wear a full face shield. I had more than my share of sticks and pucks to the face.

How about Aphex Twin? They could even use the so-called “demon face” from one of his albums. Backstory here:

Porcini or shitake will work. I’ve used both in ravioli.

The best part of the video.

Definitely to the tramway. You can do some nice hiking up at Mt. San Jacinto State Park and the views are beautiful. It’s also nice for getting away from the heat as well.

Here’s one old guy - 55!

From my experience there’s very little you can really do. I’ve seen many layoffs just seem to be randomly chosen people, while a couple where only the highest paid were let go. At one company, my group was the only one that was cash flow positive, and we got cut in spite of it. YMMV.

Having been through my share of layoffs:
1) Make sure that you back up any files, data, etc. that you’ve stored on your computer. Some companies will revoke all access to your files immediately upon getting laid off and then you’re screwed. At one company I had literally 10 minutes before I was sent out the door -

Agreed - I got to watch the 2001 World Freestyle Skiing Championships and it was a blast. TV doesn’t even begin to show the athletic skill it takes to perform all of the jumps, skiing at high speed on icy slopes, and somehow managing to not end up eating a bark sandwich.

Yes - get rid of your junk. Every time I’ve moved I got rid of so much stuff that were still in boxes or not needed anymore. You don’t realize how much you really have until you get rid of it.

Take your star! First thing I thought of!

Yes! Take your star!

Many marinas here in SF actually filled up for a while as people figured out it was cheaper and easier to just live on a boat instead. Some places ended up with very long waiting lists.
