Racing has to be it right? Blew a brand new motor after about 50 miles once. destroyed a clutch in less than 100 miles once. Broke a trans in less than 5 miles once. Got the brakes so hot the seals on the rear brake caliper sliders melted. Destroyed at set of expensive tires in about 400 miles, we’re talking tread

My nephew daily drove one of these for a winter car. He had to replaced a lot of the suspension components due to rust issues to get it safe. Not a knock on the car, it lived a hard life in the Iron Range of Minnesota where salt is used on copious amounts.

Orlove’d.

The standard of living that the children are used to?! Yikes.

Yeah, I’d be fine skiing down this slippery slope. You kill a kids parent, you are now their primary financial caregiver.

Yes, we do, IMO. Because taking someone to civil court is probably not something a 7-year-old orphan is ready/able to do. And civil litigators tend to take a huge portion of the payout if they win the case. Putting it in the penal code helps avoid re-traumatizing the family of the victim, and the DA’s office isn’t

Sounds to me like the kind of thing a new company/startup goes through as they try to ramp up production and work through issues.

Difference being is a rotary is far smoother than a gas or diesel engine, and in a much smaller package for the same amount of power. Yes it would be less efficient than a diesel, would you really want a little 3-cyl diesel clattering away in your EV/PHEV?

I remember a few articles explaining that the rotary as a generator is a much better use of that technology than as an engine for a car.  As a generator it can run at a single speed (spin rate?  RPM?) where as a car it is variable and adds stress.  Makes sense to me.

Wow, that’s a jump. Asking dumb questions at work = being drink and badgering someone on public transportation? Nah.

1: Do asshole thing and show it for all to see.

The problem is I’m not Ultralight =(

C’mon, Mercedes! Everybody’s doing it, getting ultralights, you don’t want to be left out of the cool crowd, do you? C’mon, do it! Do it!

ultralights are amazing, learning on one makes you a much better pilot, and they are a good low-cost entry to the sport. On top of that they have an inherent safety factor that makes them the lowest fatality-to-time ratio of any personal vehicle.

I really should buy an ultralight! I keep seeing them pop up for sale and haven’t yet pulled the trigger.

“Gets off easy” = “was subjected to the maximum penalty that the FAA can administer and may be subject to criminal charges in the future.”

in a spec series like Indycar, does it matter how old the car is? as long as it is up to the latest safety standards and produces close, exciting racing who cares about if it is a brand new design?

It’s worth remembering that the “DW” in the DW12 model name refers to Dan Wheldon, who did the testing and setup work on the design when it first came out. He won the Indy 500 in 2005 and 2011, but didn’t have a full-time ride for most of the 2011 season.

BUhhhh why do you use “they” to refer to a singular person! I’m so confused! I can’t figure out a single thing in this article! Is it even in English?!

You have a higher chance of going to Hawaii and getting attacked by Ezra Miller than you do getting attacked by a shark.
