This season cemented Keenan Thompson as an SNL all-time great, like top-10 great. Aidy Bryant also shined. Cecil Strong was solid and Melissa Villaseñor is breaking through. But oddly, it wasn’t a good year for Kate McKinnon, who was saddled over and over with lousy material that she couldn’t save and starred in few

Several of the cast members were jumping up and down behind all the guest stars— ostensibly from excitement and joy, but I like to think it’s to remind us that they’re on this show and to get some camera time.

Why was Anne Hathaway so impressed with seeing Robert Deniro? She worked with him before in that flop where she was his boss and he was the intern. Also, what has Anne done lately, I remember her being big in 2012 and it seems she’s fallen to the wayside. Her cameo made me feel more sad and old than happy to see her.

I

I kept thinking that it’s so rare that we ever hear the audience DURING the musical numbers.

Because there were at least 5-6 excellent musical acts this year, and Father John Misty is absolutely boring compared to all of them.

Let’s argue at length over this!

I’m pretty sure it’s set up through the Make A Wish Foundation.

Baldwin’s trump is fucking terrible though

I feel like I have to do the disclaimer first: I’ve never been a big fan of Fey. I laugh at her work; she’s fine. But I don’t clamor for every project she does, I was never a 30 ROCK fan. I’ve never actually seen MEAN GIRLS. That last one’s on me.

thank you for blessing us with your insights

I’m a huge, huge 30 Rock fan and I also loved Bossypants, but I do kind of get the feeling Fey is resting on her laurels at this point. It might be time to move to more of a producer/executive role.

Simply addressing the fact that the show’s been including way too many cameos lately and making that the basis of the finale’s monologue doesn’t make it any better. Either this is Lorne’s bizarre attempt at trolling us or... yeah, that’s probably it.

Boy, the Schumer hate has really fucking intensified since her first hosting gig. Honestly, she was fine. Not gut-bustlingly hilarious, but she held her own better than last time. And I don’t know why, but that “faux-Honey Boo Boo” voice she made while chanting “Lock her up!” gave me a bigger laugh than anything else.

This episode was pretty damn weak. I bailed right before the update.

I do appreciate the heapin’ helpings of Cecily Strong though.

Old person yells at cloud

This show demonstrated clearly how brutally underused Chris Redd has been this season.  Free Chris Redd!!!!!!

Lambo!

Did Kenan even have to audition for SNL? I mean, by the time he started in 2003 he had already done like six seasons of All That on Nickelodeon, which is exactly SNL but for kids. He already had his own sitcom and multiple movies. I feel like you can just point at that to show that he had at least enough skill for SNL

If Stormy Daniels herself hadn’t been there, Cecily Strong would have played her (not Kate McKinnon).

Heidi Gardner’s performance in that Barbie sketch was nothing short of brilliant.
