Bullshit implies that she's lying. Maybe bullshit means something else where you live.
How is what she's saying illogical? She said "I didn't mean it that way." That's pretty straightforward.

I think the problem here is that you're simply asserting that Knapp *could* be a racist, which is absolutely true. But then you called her defense where she says she isn't *bullshit* which means you're not being neutral about it at all and are saying she's lying, which would mean, logically, that she is a racist. Then

It's possible her tweet was motivated by race, or maybe it wasn't, but you called her defense "bullshit" indicating that you're pretty damn sure that it was motivated by race. So you can't then go on to say that you're neutral on the point. Maybe you mean to be, but that's not what you've written.

What I'm saying is

Rape jokes and suicide jokes are not funny.

He's in jail, according to the article. Might want to read more carefully.

In case nobody has pointed this out, if nothing else, at least he didn't call himself a soldier or a warrior or compare football to a battle of life and death. That's where a lot of these unhinged tirades go, so it's nice to see he didn't do that.

If true, this is horrifying. He was always a stand-up guy, as far as anyone knew, right? Of course, so was Dave Megget at one point. And Jerry Sandusky too. So awful to contemplate.

Well, just to make it seem like it's not about race, I've also seen people contrasting him to Champ Bailey.

One of the many unfortunate offshoots of this situation is now Peyton Manning will be the "great white hope" of so many racists out there and he's done nothing wrong that he deserves to be associated with that sort of thing.

Yes, that's pretty much it, actually. Fighting in hockey is ritualized. It's not the same as a street fight.

I say that as somebody who doesn't like fighting in hockey. And I don't think Sherman is a thug.

Yes, strictly speaking, he deserved the call because it was the right call, not because he was hurt. I shouldn't have phrased it that way.

But the bad call was just the cherry on the shit sundae, as they say.

Agree. A thug is somebody who is violent, usually at the behest of somebody else without a lot of forethought. The history of the word is interesting:

So you're saying you're not inferring that she's racist, but then go on to explain how, yeah, she was probably being racist. Which is it?

That's fine in the NHL. It adds to the appeal of the playoffs. It's such a long difficult grind to win the Stanley Cup in any case, but to win a game like that can really boost a team's energy going forward and rebounding from losing a marathon game becomes a an emotional challenge.

It doesn't matter if very few

Yeah, as with motorsports in general, most of the people who liked it at all liked it a lot, but that doesn't really work that well in TV, because any one individual can only buy so many cars, living room sets, frozen pizzas, injury lawyers, etc. Hockey has the same problem.

Steelers, Bears, or Giants would be a big draw.

I have no idea why I was so confrontational at the start of this thread. Really. Perhaps I was just jacked up after seeing the post-game interviews.

That sort of misses the point.

There's art about racism - trying to illustrate it and, by implication, object to it - and then there's art that is advocating racism.

Way to completely ignore my point.
You're damn right I'm justifying it. I'm explaining how it shows what it's trying to show. Just because you don't want to see or hear something unpleasant doesn't mean it's not a statement worth making. Racism is very real and very ugly in the real world and this picture expresses it
