Ah man, I was friends with Dan back in college-- a tad private, but a really nice dude. Was always into making his own stuff, and I’m glad to see he’s managed to make a living off of it. Sort of surreal to see his name on a site I read daily.

I dunno but I kind of feel that the best way for this film to address whitewashing would be to actually cast a woman of Asian descent. The fact we need to find elaborate ways to justify a white lead kind of illustrates how ridiculous the whole thing is. Let’s just imagine two different scenarios;

I’m guessing this has to do more with the fact that she has never been a biological human (other than in the womb) and therefore, they ‘stole her life’. In the Arise Border movies you learn a lot about the Major’s past and you also learn that she had her Ghost placed into a Cyborg before birth, as her Mother had died…

Well if you really want to get into that there is a lot of evidence that she was also a man before they rebuilt her into the ideal white woman.

I’d still kinda like to see Hugh Jackman in Deadpool...but not Wolverine. I think a movie where Deadpool grabs the actual Hugh Jackman and drags him into the action, probably getting him killed in the process, would be awesome.

I expected him to stick his head through and die of a really bad paper cut when the sheet fell.

This isn’t a hypothetical danger to autistic people. If the film can’t handle with nuance the idea that autistic people aren’t inherently dangerous, and don’t necessarily belong in care, then it’s much better for everyone if they drop the autism angle entirely, rather than further these dangerous stereotypes.
