It's not like they're Bronze or Silver Stars... While I don't have any MSMs (Meritorious Service Medals), I have 5 commendation medals, and one achievement medals. I ahven't been deployed. You can easily be awarded those medals by working hard in garrison and doing an outstanding job. Those are not war-time only…
