Too expensive. A rust free example can be had for perhaps 2000 Euro in Germany, and I am being nice. I have seen them go for less than 1000 Euro with fixable rust.

Yep, most German "tuning" is garish colors, non-stock headlights and taillights, loud exhausts, stickers and 80 horsepower engines. Germans specialize in what Americans call "rice rockets". Should we call them "kraut rockets"?
