I really don’t get the obsession with an internal battery. Those batteries just don’t hold a charge well after a while, and then you are stuck corded. On the other hand, with the 360 controller, it’s super easy to just grab a couple AAs out of a charger and toss the old ones back in.
The fact is that the vast majority of third party games could have mapped to GameCube just fine
Other all-time greats like the SNES and PS2 seem to be remembered more fondly than Microsoft’s console, which tends to be recalled as more of a thing that happened than a platform to be treasured.
The Cell processor was practically produced in tandem with the Xbox360 processor, both by IBM. The Xbox 360 CPU is a custom 6-core affair, which had nothing to do with PC hardware. I still have the arcade version of the XBox 360, which I got in 2007, and I’ve only had to replace the wireless controller board.
We got the Definite Edition announcement just recently. The game is no longer stuck on that console, so it’s only fair that Lost Odyssey receives a mention instead.
The Gamecube controller is fine, but it’s not particularly exceptional for anything that isn’t a game for it. The C stick is too rigid and can’t be used for anything requiring two thumb sticks. I think the OG GC controller is my favorite, but I’d take a 360 (or 1) controller over the wavebird any day.
PS3 wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of engineering either. That whole generation was an example of why tech-races in consoles have resulted in so many fuck ups over the years. Meanwhile weird hipster cousin Wii did gangbusters.....go figure.
My friend had that. I always thought it was too heavy and preferred the original controller with a cord extender if needed.

She’s just one example of the rainbow of asshats I’ve had to encounter for my depression and anxiety. The anxiety wasn’t even diagnosed until I was well into my forties.
I bet you’ll find at least a few. Anytime a mentally ill person isn’t white or straight, it just creates an extra obstacle to them getting reliable care. Mental health care in particular requires a lot of empathy, and some people are incapable of feeling that for anyone who doesn’t look like them.
