SUVs get very good gas mileage today, which was not the case 15 years ago. A current Rav4 gets better fuel economy than a 2007 Prius did. It can’t match a current Prius, but 40mpg is probably good enough.

Honestly, a lot of crossovers are smaller than compact cars in terms of vehicle foot print. They use height to make up for it and provide more utility.
Consumers were less attracted to sedans and small cars, making them a shrinking segment. So manufactures moved resources to growth segments.
The accord has been longer than 193" and wider than 73" since 2008.
I’m not as paranoid about rental cars are most people here are. And Teslas are pretty simple to operate and I’m not sure you can really abuse one outside of actually wrecking it.
This failure is the real reason Toyota claimed they thought the future was in hybrids. They had a roadmap of like 8 vehicles that would be built on this platform and released by 2025, and none of the others materialized. This platform was non-competitive garbage.
Kramer would be extremely fashionable today.
So yes, the Dodge Challenger Demon 170 is still officially the quicker car in the quarter mile, but since it required a prepped surface to break into the eights, there’s no telling just how big a difference you would see in the real world.
This isn’t a cost savings measure. Porsche is trying to figure out how to save the 911 the coming era of EV/plug-in hybrids only. The 718 is a test bed for the viability of building and selling small EV sports cars.
Which again, I don’t know why we Have to EV everything,
Crossovers are better than station wagons, and station wagons are lame.
Making the CVT pretend to be a manual is silly.
Yea but many CVTs require more maintainence and are very expensive to replace.
I love eCVTs. Granted, I’ve only owned/driven Ford and Toyota hybrids, but I’ve found their eCVTs to be excellent for “fun” driving. I used to drive the balls off of my wife’s Prius on back roads and enjoyed it more than any of the Mazda hatches I’ve owned. And I think the Fusion hybrid is the best sporty economy…
Did you know that McLaren recommends replacing the wheel bolts on your 650S every two years?
The US economy is carrying the world right now. It’s the only economy that’s not on the brink of collapse right now. Pretty much every other developed economy has been hit hard repeatedly by food and energy prices skyrocketing, foreign and domestic security issues, and general civil strife.
Toyota does not let you custom order one (because they are F’ing awful).
Different conditions too. Nurburgring is notorious for having weather that can change in an instant. They clearly had great weather for this run, but that’s not always the case.
Toyota says Corollas can catch fire if they are driven above 85mph.
Maybe this shouldn’t be a school zone. Apparently a few thousand people who live in the area agree. We have this same issue where I live. The city converted an old office complex into a school, then turned a major road into a school zone.
