Did you forget that the Charger exists? It’s not rare, Dodge has sold like a million of them in the past decade.

I would not call the current styling retro. In fact, 2015 was widely considered to be the move away from retro.
These things had pretty good power-to-weight ratios and make decent noises when you press the go-pedal.
Yeah, but I have the only Torch Red, 2LT with the orange dual full-length racing stripes, midnight silver & carbon flash fender hash, 5-trident-spoke machine-faced Spectra wheels, Edge Red-painted calipers, the Sky Cool Grey GT2 bucket seats w/ perforations (but no microfiber insert!), the Stingray R wheel center…
I don’t have anything to add, but I wanted to comment because large, in depth articles like this one are valuable, and we won’t have more of them without sufficient “engagement.”
Toyota is the cheap cars,
There’s nothing wrong with a higher ride some more suspension travel. The roads are in rough shape and normal sedans scrap everywhere. If it wasn’t for the body cladding, I wouldn’t be able to tell that this sat any higher.
I’d gladly take half the hp if I can get another 150 or so miles of range out of it
Increasing battery capacity increases both range and power. So, probably not, since people are going to want longer range EVs.
Not sure I agree that those targa-tops count. Being in a proper convertible is a much different experience than a Wranger with the top off.
A Ram TRX is right about as fast as a Mustang GT (10at) which has 7.8 lb/hp. With the Ram being faster to 60 while the Mustang closes the gap by the end of the quarter mile. Yet, you’d predict the ‘Stang would obliterate it.
it’s “whatever would most disappear in traffic if you stuck a contractor’s logo on the door.” And the TRX has way too much gaudy plastic body cladding for that.
Who wants to be seen driving around in something that was clearly designed to appeal most to 12 year old boys?
0-60 is a terrible measuring stick at these power levels. The regular C8 Z51 officially hits 60 in 2.8s.
“Common knowledge” says that new cars are always financially irresponsible, so many people refuse to buy new cars because they believe it is a sign of a poor understanding of finances. Thus, mostly wealthy people buy new cars. And wealthy people want trucks and SUVs, so that’s what manufactures build.
Hot take: this would look better crossoverfied.
did people argue about whether it was an Impreza or a WRX, etc.?
Is there a limit to the number of cars you can purchase?
The company says on paper it can hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 1.8 seconds,
I love classic architecture like this. But let’s be honest, the bridge cannot really handle the rigors of modern life. Continuing the allow automobile traffic over it will eventually destroy the bridge.
