So I was reading Option B, Sheryl Sandberg’s new book, and while I wasn’t a fan of her first one I do like this one. Anyways, she recounts how about 5 months after her husband died, her brother told her she should start dating. She was shocked, and he pointed out that if she were a man she’d already be dating someone.

Can I also add that the government was about to be defeated on a key measure in the Queen’s Speech vote?

UK Update:

Update from Germany:

It is more accurate to say that it makes people stay engaged, rather than listen to you. Uptalk asks your listener to confirm that they are following what you say. I used it a lot while tutoring. It is much easier to use uptalk than to punctuate every sentence with ‘you see?’ or `does that make sense?’ The questioning

I am rethinking my assumptions through your comment, though.

It is most certainly not a middle class white woman thing, or at least, not just a white women thing. Studies show that men do it just as much as women. But its just not perceived as being ‘obnoxious’.

That’s not how you spell “misogyny”, friend, but given your slippery grasp of grammar and punctuation, we’re not surprised by the error.

It is heart breakungly sad. I had a very sick child, no prospect of getting better. Just. Life with more and more interventions. We let her go. There were many alternative treatments we could have tried. I didn’t want that for her. She deserved more than suffering through every moment of her life to be part of

As I have written before, my daughter died when she was five in 2011, two months after being diagnosed with an inoperable and malignant brain tumor. There is no cure for her type of tumor - DIPG - and current treatments do little more than extend life for a few months.

Bobby I learned my “You take it, I insist” lesson my senior year of high school. She got in first with “You really deserve it” to which I replied “No you do”,

Public funding of private, for-profit, charter schools with no federal oversight.

The funny thing is those clickbait lists actually pay them a lot of money that in turn have enabled them to do some pretty hard hitting pieces as well.

welp he started talking about malia, sasha and michelle and then i started crying!!

UK: Wait is this definitely beer?

My afterlife will be a Biden backyard BBQ.

I have mixed feelings about it. I like being able to blend in and just be by myself in a public place, but there’s a part of me that still needs people to think I’m pretty. I don’t like it, but there it is.

3rd. She’s not the lead though. It’s a pretty dumb but entertaining show.

As an education professor, I can’t stress enough what a disaster this is for public education. The erosion of education in the U.S. continues, as does defacto segregation, as tax-supported private schools siphon off students.

(this ended up being way longer than I thought it would be)
