I’m in a quite similar position right now— academic, facing a dozen or so of rejection letters, moving back in with parents for the semester, feeling ashamed.

I’m not sure what type of graduate program it is and know that my advice will vary program to program/institution to institution, but: when I was on the graduate admissions committee, we were definitely receptive to students that we admitted who had indicated that (1) they wanted to come to our program; (2) had been…
Also love the movie, also slightly afraid of Frank. I’m just convinced they recycled an old vintage Easter bunny costume for him...
I’m really unsure if there’s such a thing as an Easter bunny costume that isn’t creepy. *Shudder.* Even the one behind Obama still looks vaguely murderous.
The former-editor, Ben Shapiro, is definitely a Ted Cruz fan. It might not explain everything, but Cruz had an ally in the organization up until quite recently.
Without a doubt. But, I feel that the awareness of his policies and fuckery has been contained to the Midwest. My friends who were commenting about the moderateness/saneness/whatever were also not from the Great Lakes region.
Apparently more than one...
Absolutely a mask, which was why I was so horrified that he came off as moderate—even back then. Whenever my Democratic friends would be, like, “oh, he’s not so bad,” the first thing I would do is point them to his record.

Orrin Hatch was, Chuck Grassley was not— and voted against Garland in his previous confirmation hearing. I’d rather have a (more recent) nominee that at least had support from the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
There is precedent to do so if from other states and Article V in the PA Constitution gives broad authority to this court, but they haven’t taken it in any past cases. He will still be sanctioned, that’s something that the Court of Judicial Discipline has done in past cases where the judge has retired/resigned, but it…
Oh, def not. But, there’s at least the chance he’ll lose his pension and be disbarred. Ya know, nothing that comes even close to violating his 8th amendment rights.
To be fair, retired/resigned judges can still be punished via the Court of Judicial Discipline (because, yes, Pennsylvania has its own court for these matters...). The Judicial Board of Conduct is still investigating the matter and the court can still (and will) sanction him.
