Yeah, they laid it on pretty thick when they had Cesare whip Micheletto. "Harder, my lord. Harder." I mean, yeah. But I'd always viewed that scene as gay subtext/fanservice, as opposed to an indication of actual in-text sexual/romantic attraction on the part of either character.

I would've killed to see Leonardo on this show. Imagine, Leo and Cesare and Machiavelli all together in the same room, scheming and plotting away. Uggghhhhh. Goddamn it, Showtime.

People have remarked before in these reviews that Micheletto appears to be in love with Cesare, but I never quite bought into that… but after seeing Micheletto give Cesare's face a phantom caress just before their final goodbyes, I don't think there's any other way to interpret his feelings for his old master. Damn.

As an Asian, that moment annoyed me to no end. Like, damn, I know AD's skirted the line of offensiveness before, but I never thought the show would actually stoop that low for an easy laugh. A lot of the Indian jokes struck me as being similarly lazy.

There's something oddly hilarious about Cesare trying to talk while cramming Lucrezia's finger in his mouth like a breadstick.

Faux-racist? I'd just say straight-up racist.

The only in-show mention of incest I remember is Juan musing aloud to himself about his siblings' odd relationship while high in an opium den last season.

The love and incest tend to go hand in hand.

I actually gave up on season 1 about halfway through, but I think my own expectations were the problem, not the show. I'd been hoping for a grounded historical drama and The Borgias turned out to be rather soapier. But I picked the show up again in season 2 with a much better idea of what to expect and I've been

I have to give props to Francois Arnaud for his work during the awkward
consummation scene. Cesare somehow manages to look simultaneously
aroused, stunned, disturbed, and sorry for Lucrezia while watching her
watch him. He could just as easily weep as he could come in his pants.

Having glanced at some screencaps of Will during that scene, I can acknowledge that, divorced of context, he does have a bit of a sweaty, dirty, pretty-boy appeal with the dark smirk and open shirt and all. But having seen what he does to that nurse, I can't freaking understand how you watch him squish a woman's

I was aghast when someone mentioned to me how attractive she found Hugh Dancy during the re-enactment of the nurse's murder. I was like, "THAT'S what stood out to you most prominently during that scene? How hot he was?!"

Oh yeah, this was definitely the most frightening Hannibal episode for me. At the end, since it was so obvious what Hannibal was going to do to Miriam, I was almost paralyzed with dread. I was internally screaming at her to run out of that office.

This actually made me LOL at work. Well played.

Yeah, I've just finished season 5 and my interest's definitely tapered off. The first 3 seasons are superb but I don't plan on watching the rest of the show. The humour is much more biting and hilarious when it is, as you say, grounded and driven by character. But as the show progresses the situations become more

You'd be surprised. I've seen significant numbers of C/L enthusiasts on Tumblr and ONTD, which are hardly considered bastions of good taste round these parts, I know, but take it for what it's worth. And I'm almost positive that Neil Jordan was quoted as saying during season one that there would be no incest, so he

Yeah, that momentary look of panic from Grace had me rolling my eyes a bit. While it does make sense that she would be fearing for the future of her parents' marriage and family, I hated the implication that came with the look: that Alicia is putting her daughter through turmoil and is thus a selfish adulteress/bad

Incest taboo be damned, I'm throwing my support behind these two crazy kids. Their affair will be nothing short of a train wreck, as Les notes, but it'll be entertaining as hell to watch. Gimme more, I can take it.
