I absolutely loved the first Mayfair Witches book.  But I am from New Orleans and I loved the way Anne Rice wrote about it.  I might have to re-read that soon.

Is there a rule that seasons have to end on a cliffhanger?

I think its one of the most well-done episodes of the show, ever, in spite of the brutal rapes.

The reviewer is under no obligation to read the books. If the shows can’t stand on their own, that’s the show’s problem, not the reviewer’s.

I forgot about that one.

Mary Hawkins in season 2 as well.

I think a couple of things have changed. First and foremost, Ron Moore is no longer involved on a day-to-day basis. Maril Davis & Matt Roberts have stepped in. Also, there are a lot of new writers and I frankly think that some of the writing has been cringe-inducingly bad.

To be fair, even though it’s overused, it’s never glorified or depicted as anything but horrifying.  So I’m pretty sure no one is “getting off” on it.

Oh wait, never mind.

I typed this elsewhere but Diana Gabaldon is really bad at plot. When she starts writing a book she only has a vague of what is going to happen. So she writes individual scenes which she later stitches up into some sort of coherent narrative. Or not-so-coherent.

She just isn’t very good at plot so her plots are generally contrived and, especially in later books, depend on a number of EXTREMELY unlikely geographic coincidences.

If it makes anyone feel any better, I’m pretty sure this is it, at least through book 8.

I’m a book reader that was really hoping that they would change this plot.

I was really hoping that they would dispense with the rape but instead they made it a lot worse. I don’t remember that she was gang-raped in the book. I would swear it was just one guy who actually managed it, but I hate this part of the book and skip it on re-reads.

I think we’ve seen the end of buffets for a while.  Which is sad because I love a good salad bar.

My favorite neighborhood bar/restaurant announced the other day that it’s closed for good. I’m gutted.

I’m rooting for them to stop at 6 seasons. I don’t think they need him for season 6 but you can’t do 7 or 8 without either him or major changes to the story.

I hope you’re right.  I don’t think he’s got much to do in season 6 but if (god forbid) do a season 7 & 8, he features hugely in one of the plots. In fact, it’s one of my favorite book plots.

So apparently this was the last time we’ll see Lord John Gray.  The actor has indicated that he has shot his last Outlander episode.

It was a hot flash.  She didn’t wake up horny for Jamie.
