Just giving some context to the narrative that people like to spin about rape victims and memory.

Yeah, "both sides" right? Sometimes a rape victim is lying, sometimes the person who raped her is lying, both are just as likely I guess? Or maybe even the most cursory examination of how the world approaches rape accusations should show that that is not the case. There's scepticism and then there's apologism.

Hmm, this line from you, not the FMSF is what threw me, I thought it was your own opinion, not theirs, since it wasn't with the rest of the quotation: "They're really no longer relevant because therapists now have strict standards about suggestive therapy"

Like I said, this is about dispelling the idea that this is something common, that unreliable memories being implanted is so common that it is a reasonable explanation for child-abuse allegations without other evidence. Which is what's going on here.

The fact that you actually quote one of the FMSF founders to try to prove a point about "strict standards about suggestive therapy"...blows my mind. I can't think of less convincing appeal to authority. Seriously, take a refresher course on that second link, those people are utterly corrupt and there is a lot of

There is a lot of research showing that it's possible, but not showing that it's common or probable in cases of child-abuse.

Please, at least read the first link, and preferably the second too. The amount of evidence to discredit the False Memory Syndrome Foundation is staggering. Also I have problems with Loftus, but even she herself has stated that she doesn't think all instances of child abuse reporting are implanted, her research only

The thing is, delayed, absent or fragmented recall can occur during traumatic events, it's used as a way to discredit the testimony of victims all the time. In this case there isn't even that though, she reported it at the time, there was no delayed recall, it appears to have a clear chronology. All the talk of

OK, everyone, please stop acting as if "false memory syndrome" is some sort of epidemic and we should doubt all accusations of child abuse based on it. Once again:

I'm just going to keep posting these links:

You need to be careful when throwing out those kind of strong assertions about how "incredibly easy" it is to implant memories of child abuse, the whole idea originated with an organisation headed by two suspected pedophiles and has been subject to a huge amount of hysteria consistent with society's need to discredit

Every time the subject of male physical attractiveness comes up here two of the biggest factors mentioned are height and broad/muscular shoulders. Why the hell shouldn't they play to their strengths if they have one but not the other? What are they supposed to do, just give up on trying to be attractive altogether?

if you catch my drift

Is there a physical element he's not talking about? Anti-depressants can kill sex drive as well as make it harder to get erect and reach orgasm even when you are erect. There's lots of information about it online, so I'll just mention the one thing that I don't see talked about anywhere: prostate stimulation. If he's

I mean the most plausible explanation is that you "zoned out" for most of these. Especially as a mother with two kids who's stuck at home with a pre-school age one, you could very well have been sleep-walking (or something similar) sometimes. Think of driving home from work, or walking back home after a night out the

I get where you're coming from. Everything that used to be a "dealbreaker" for me stopped being so as soon as I became infatuated by a girl who had that trait. Then suddenly it wouldn't matter anymore.

It's good for the immune system!

Yes and, to bust another myth, what you're saying applies to guys too. I've felt an incredible increase in attraction to women after getting to know them, or even after a single encounter where a woman makes me laugh and I find out how funny they are.
