It sounds like if you do want to talk to him about this then you at least need to be able to articulate your feelings better than saying it's "creepy" and "inappropriate" (things I agree with you on btw). Those alone aren't really things he can respond to or consider himself. It's also going to be difficult to bring

The only time I've seen a survey which actually differentiated by race black guys were on average 1/4 of an inch longer. Just over half a centimetre makes all the difference to I'm sure!

I'm glad you clarified that this came from your own sprint to the comments, because I was pretty annoyed at someone calling men's insecurities vain...

I always liked "He died for your sins, now it's your turn!"

Well, she had power over him, that's pretty much it. IIRC 80% of child-molesters aren't pedophiles, they aren't attracted to children. They're "opportunists" who'll rape whoever they have power over, even if that's a child.

"I look at his knuckles, he has two good hands."

Haha, I will take that as a compliment.

The patriarchy perpetuates the idea that women are passive victims and that abuse is about sex not power, so stuff like this goes unpunished and women are afraid to come forward.

No probs. I feel a bit guilty now tbh. I started off questioning another guy (I'm male), but ended up telling a load of women how to approach abortion advocacy. Oops.

Yeah, I guess so. Also I'm pretty sure that's Ayn Rand in their title-bar. She is mostly a curiosity over here though.

You're probably right, I think I need commenters to point out the flaws for me, and there generally aren't many people over there to do so.

Hey, no problem, this is something I like mulling over, as I don't really have an answer yet. And you're right, there are female feminists doing it too, it wasn't just men silencing women of colour, for example.

Well, he also supposedly contacted at least one Gawker staff member and tried to have them blacklist a writer who criticised him, so I think it went beyond showboating. And he only seems to be unique in how successful he was.

The whole thing brought forward a lot of women speaking up about men branding themselves as feminists, but also silencing women and invading their spaces. Schwyzer was the worst example, but doesn't seem to be the only one by far. Someone else in this thread already mentioned men using the fact that they identify as a

Vagenda put up a pice about their decision to participate:

I'm male and did consider myself a feminist, but the whole Hugo Schwyzer debacle has left me a little reticent to adopt the label these days. "Feminism is something you do, not something you are" seems to be a good way to look at it.

Yeah, you wouldn't say "blackwoman", "oldwoman" or whatever.

That's how I read it too. I just checked the back and it says the athor's proceeds from the book went to the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation, founded by Deng, which promotes education for victims of the Sudanese vicil war. Damn Jezebel, way to pick a bad target.

Hey, thanks, reeeally had to bite my tongue a couple of times. And yeah, it feels like people are taking the easy way out around her sometimes. It reminds me a bit of an old comedy sketch on the show Brass-Eye, where they're trying to support people with AIDS...but only good AIDS (innocently received through blood
