The difference in is execution.  Of course, you’re not supposed to take F&F movies seriously as they’re pure camp.  The MI films are meant to be dramatically plausible, but I’ve found that the stories are too murky, which makes them hard to follow, so I lose my investment in the action when I don’t understand the…

I don’t recall any of them clearly after the first.  How did they ruin Simon’s character?  Not that I’m surprised, but they all blur together into a larger blur.

I also don’t mind dumb action, but for me, that doesn’t work nearly as well when the rest of the movie is trying do hard to be serious and smart. I have a similar issue with the Fast & Furious franchise. I haven’t seen any of the films past Fast Five, but that one achieved the very difficult balance of a good heist…
