This has been a somewhat ironic situation for me.
This has been a somewhat ironic situation for me.
I put the game down last year after over 20 Raids failed to net me a Shiny Xerneas. I suddenly felt this wave of embarrassment in realizing I’d been sitting in a casino for FAR too long. I quit cold.
This kind of crap is exactly why I will only ever pay Netflix and continue to buy physical media until it no longer exists. Without password sharing, the cost of all the streaming services almost amounts to a cable bill from yesteryear.
Well, shit. I had no idea that Campbell’s views and books have begun to be seen as less than scholarly or not as well-researched as they ought. I remember watching The Power of Myth and being fascinated at how so many cultures seemed to have such similar elements to their stories, and he seemed quite knowledgeable. Whe…
It can feel like a lot when you feel obligated to watch multiple shows with multiple seasons in order to get the full entertainment value (hopefully) from a new show that relies on prior knowledge of both shows.
Agreed, and I’m well aware of Lucas’ various points of inspiration. I devoured every documentary or book behind the OT production, and in particular, I loved reading “The Secret History of Star Wars” by Michael Kaminski. His mainly factual analysis strongly highlighted the differences in how both trilogies were made,…
I will buy physical media until it no longer exists. When it comes to movies and tv shows, I want to own what I purchase.
Excellent appraisal as all of that sounds accurate. Lucas was always better at world building than writing consistent stories with distinct characters. I had not heard that Abrams hated the Prequels. I did at one time, but that hate became useless after a while. I still don’t like them at all, and for me they stand as…
“but it ended up becoming Favreau and Filoni’s attempt to redeem Lucas’ vision of what Star Wars was about.”
Yep. The vast majority of the wealth of the few was made with the blood and tears of the many.
Don’t paw me with your petty little guilt trip. I didn’t bet because I don’t gamble. Cypto is a scam, and anyone who buys into that or NFT’s is a fucking moron. It’s tragic that four ostensibly innocent people lost their lives for no other reason than making the mistake of trusting some wealthy fucktard who imagined…
This has been a weird one for me.
The second to last paragraph is the best summation of why I’m no longer interested in the Mandalorian. While I still love Star Wars, there’s SO much of it now that trying to catch up feels like a burdensome task rather than something to gleefully anticipate. I loved Mando precisely because it was, at least in it’s…
Wholeheartedly agree. The impatience of greed and the absence of any long-term planning has scuttled nearly all of DC’s attempts to appeal to its core audience, much less attract those unfamiliar by creating a franchise that feels carefully and lovingly curated.
Agreed, although for myself, it seems that Miller’s inability to control themselves and continually engaging in kidnapping, theft, gaslighting and other indications of mental instability, has hung like a pall over this film long before it began production and after when it was being promoted. Miller is a menace, and…
No. I did not like the third one at all and have refused to watch the fourth. Pixar has been putting out mostly middling films since “Finding Nemo.” So much content that’s either needless sequels or original films that don’t work very well for various reasons. I used to love Pixar, but their quality has slipped…
If Ezra Miller hadn’t turned out to be a full-blown wackoloon, then I think the film would have done significantly better. His ongoing mental meltdown created a PR stench that I’m sure still lingers in the mental nose of many comic book fans, regardless of their personal feelings or investment in DC as a brand.
This looks so aggressively meh in every respect that I’m almost impressed. It’s as if Sony has embraced that their second tier status and decided: “Here. It’s the best we can do. Take it or leave it.”
Another Toy Story sequel? Damn. I was already in the minority for thinking that the third film was unnecessary, but this has become truly ridiculous.
