But in another, more accurate way, it isn’t.

and all the science I can find on abortion seems to state that life does, in fact, begin at conception, because it is at conception that that little bundle of cells has the DNA of a completely unique human being.
I don’t feel that science defines life as beginning at conception but rather at the point of independant existence or completion of the process. No scientist calls an acorn an oak tree, or freshly crushed grape juice wine even though all the cellular material to do so is already there. So much can go wrong on the way…
When someone says “life begins at conception”, try to nail them down on when conception is. Is it when the sperm and egg’s membranes fuse? Because more than 1 spermatozoon can fuse membranes. Is it when the proteases open the way through the protein layer of the egg and the oocyte’s biochemistry changes in such a way…
I think you’re having trouble because it really isn’t a scientific question. Your usual response is right on the money.
And I would bring advocacy to the White House and we would get things done. And we would advance the cause of life at home and around the world.
I will bet you 1bajillion dollars that if his daughter or his mistress got pregnant, you can bet abortion would be A OK super peachy keen. Fucking. Hypocrites.
If you send me to that place, I will never forget this place.
Is he against in vitro fertilization for the infertile? Because extra embryos are discarded and will never grow up to be babies or ponies.
I think a scientific way to argue against it is to say that an embryo has more in common with a sperm or egg cell than it does a person. Given the right combination of circumstances, those can become a person too - so why draw the line at conception?
I always assume the exceptions are a result of polling or public opinion. Like a lot of people might be, “Yeah, I believe life begins at conception” and then be “No, I don’t think an incest or rape survivor should have to carry that fetus to term.” Nuance is the enemy of anti-abortion leaders so by making those…
You know, without going all Godwin, there is a comparison of abortion to slavery.
Ah, the ol’ three exceptions. Shit you have to prove with possibly humiliating police reports and invasive tests. That’s easy, ain’t it, Marco? EASY FOR YOU TO SAY.
Thank you. This is always my problem with this “except in the case of rape or incest” logic. You can’t lay down and absolute and then immediately say “except for when this happens.” Well, clearly, you can because they do all the time, but it doesn’t make sense. Once you start making exceptions you are not judging the…
That gif has to be at least three times bigger than this!
If an embryo is “not a person, what is it? Because if you left it alone, that’s the only thing it can become,” he said.
Embryos are totally people when they are the results of dirty sluts agreeing to sex but not so much when they result from rape or incest. Good to know.
“It can’t develop into a pony.”
“If an embryo is not a person, what is it?”
