It’s not surprising that you don’t understand the importance of at least the attempt of an independent judiciary being a check on the executive and legislative branches.

Has there ever not been a conservative majority, at least by today’s standards of what a conservative would be? And Roberts has proven that he’s much more of a moderate swing vote than anyone would have suspected. Frankly it’s probably better for the overall stability of society if the Supreme Court tilts slightly…
The assumption by someone in favor of this plan is that Democrats will be either unable or unwilling to lose power again once they take it. If they are unwilling to give up power that is a feature and not a bug.
And it was a terrible idea when FDR wanted to do it because he didn’t like the Supreme Court striking down some of the things he wanted to do to deal with the Great Depression. People who think they know what’s best for everyone else usually have the most dangerous ideas.
Great. I can see no way that this doesn’t backfire horribly on Democrats. Just like how Harry Reid scuttling the filibuster for certain votes didn’t give McConnell the idea to do the same thing for Supreme Court nominations. Oh wait...
Only Congress could take what should be a single sentence and stretch it out in to 7 fucking pages. Someone must be getting paid by the word.
Hmm, gee. Who could’ve guessed that the government would use a database at their disposal to do bad things? Truly, it boggles the mind that a government would ever use its immense power to abuse some of its people.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I feel it’s important to keep the bar low and take the chance of being pleasantly surprised rather than expecting that some bombshell will be discovered that will leave Trump no choice but to resign. I’m not sure any such criteria exists that would make him even consider the possibility. And…
This might be the first time we’ve actually agreed on something. Investigating the Russia angle is a dead end, especially if they’re expecting to find evidence of actual vote modification. They didn’t need to modify any votes, just the question of it is enough to damage our faith in the democratic process. They should…
In trying to please everyone, Democrats will end up pleasing no one, as they always do. Don’t be surprised if they end up accomplishing little if anything before they invariably cede power back to Republicans, due to their incessant squabbles regarding identity politics. The best thing they can do is use their…
Uhh... the Canadians (and anyone around the world that can pay) that go to that clinic. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/14/rand-paul-canada-surgery-neighbor-attack-1099485
It’s also muted when you have to endlessly grind for things or pay real money. So... all things being equal, I’d cheese this glitch to get some easy cash, yeah.
Your myth that there is an out of control overwhelming gun violence problem in this country is just that, a myth perpetuated by an outrage culture and the media.
This is all dependent on how you define being rich or successful. Almost the entire population of the US is in the 1% of wealthiest people worldwide. And that’s even after world poverty being cut in half in the last decade.
Careful, because you posted something from Peterson, you’re going to get called a transphobic, racist, bigot by a bunch of people who have never actually listened to a single word he’s said.
I mean, when you’re taking money from me to bail out millionaires and to fund sweetheart defense contracts, yeah, that’s theft.
You do realize he went to a private clinic in Canada, yes? As in, not paid for by their socialized healthcare system?
Unfortunately, that’s not uncommon. If you got rid of every surgeon that accidentally left a sponge inside someone, we’d have even more of a shortage of surgeons than we do now.
Not at all, I’m suggesting that the “solutions” that have been proposed aren’t actual solutions at all and are meant to pave the way for further onerous restrictions down the road.
The comments to this article are going to cause another Greyening. Jesus Nick, did you even read over this with a critical eye before you put it out there? The only way you could be more tone deaf is if you were the reincarnation of Ulysses S. Grant.
