This might be one of the few policy issues where I agree with AOC, because it’s a rare case where she actually knows what she’s talking about and facts are on her side. ICE is a remnant of our post-9/11 fears and should be dismantled. It was wrong then, and it’s still wrong now.

I would not put it past him, no. I also wouldn’t put it past him to leave the government shut down for the next two years either. Or, for him to agree to a budget a few months before the 2020 election and be the one who “ended the shutdown”.

I would have been surprised, but also, not that surprised. I could see Trump doing a bunch of shit and basically saying “Well Lincoln did it during the Civil War, so I can do it too!”

It was, in short, all a huge waste of everyone’s time, and the shutdown is no closer to being solved than it ever was.

Man, of all the shills I figured I’d run into, I never figured I’d run into one for the credit rating industry.

Eh, it’s pretty easily inferred that Tom means no government oversight. One of them had a major data breach, and what happened? Precisely fuck-all. Nobody went to jail, the company didn’t go out of business. You’re still stuck using them. Credit rating agencies might be publicly traded, but for the majority of us,

This is where I’m glad that my parents still have one of their credit cards with my name on it. They’ve had that same account open longer than I’ve been alive, so it artificially boosts my credit age, plus they keep it paid off/at a very low balance. Not that my credit would be shabby without it, but if it’s all based

Where?

What’s your excuse then?

Of course it’s a thing. Modern “social justice warriors” do it all the time. They don’t demand equal treatment, they want revenge. You’re making the argument that you have to have power over the target of your hate to be racist, which has been a recent attempt to redefine racism. If you dislike someone because of

Even if you disagreed with the substance of Ramos’ article, and weird typographical artifacts aside, the quality of the writing is far and above better than anything anyone else puts out, ESPECIALLY  HamNo. It’s the difference between a real journalist and a blogger hack. All the rest of the writers for Splinter

That is also a possibility, and you’re right, once it’s normalized I can see Republicans abusing the crap out of it. Because let’s be honest, it’s not like Republicans won’t ever be in charge again. Not while we continue to force ourselves into this two party duopoly, at any rate.

My biggest fear is that once Trump even tries to declare a national emergency over his dumb fucking wall, that it will open the floodgates for Democrats to then do the same for something else not actually a national emergency later on. Once you reset the playing field it becomes almost impossible to go back. See the

Hell you could probably find quotes from Reagan that could be used against Trump’s nativism.

God, just when I think you can’t come up with a shittier take HamNo, you somehow manage to surprise me.

Once is, and this is being generous, an unfortunate accident. Twice is suspicious as hell.

The hinge is important though. All those “sandwiches” don’t stop being a sandwich if the hinge breaks, because you can still more or less eat them as intended (meatball subs might be an exception to this). If the same thing happens with your hot dog though, especially if you have any toppings, the whole thing pretty

And back then it wasn’t even because they thought anyone would do it on purpose, but rather on accident due to mechanical failure or pilot error. The World Trade Center towers were said to have been able to withstand a 727 strike, which at the time they were built was the biggest plane in operation if memory serves.

Good! Hopefully they all stop coming to work and people realize that it’s all just a bunch of security theater bullshit that doesn’t actually make any of us safer! Things like reinforcing the cockpit doors, adding air marshals to flights, allowing pilots to arm themselves, and changing how passengers and flight crew

Anyone else pick up on Trump saying she “dishonored” her family like  it was supposed to be a dog whistle about Muslims and honor killings? Of all the words he could’ve used, that just strikes me as unusually pointed.
