Because if you really believe that, what the fuck’s the point in even having elections anymore then?

So this is how democracy dies: With thunderous applause.

This brings up a bigger point for me: Why aren’t game system manufacturers like Sony and Nintendo, and even Microsoft to a degree, doing more to offer an easy way to purchase their entire back catalog digitally? Specifically, I got a Switch for Christmas, and I’m just baffled that Nintendo isn’t literally making ALL

That’s just crazy enough that I actually believe it.

I mean, if anyone’s gonna be Space Shuttle Door Gunners, these guys would be at the top of the list, right?

This is beyond stupid, because unless they just happened to be on their way out the door to go conduct an op, someone ordered them to kit up for this. Which also means nobody was willing to tell Trump that this was a major breach of OpSec to do so.

I can’t think of another president in modern history who is/was as glaringly awful at popularity stunts as Trump. I’m pretty sure even Nixon made more effort to cultivate his public image than Trump does.

I mean, all borders are artificial, but borders in Iraq and the rest of the Middle East are even more ridiculous when you realize they were drawn up by some British buy in an office somewhere that had probably never even visited the region.

I will never not star a Babylon 5 reference.

The people we’re killing over there all have a shared religious, cultural, and even in some cases familial background. Just because they’re not a distinct genetic group separate and unique from the ones we’re not killing (for now), does not mean it would not be genocidal if we were to actually try to wipe all of ISIS

This isn’t a both sides issue. This is an everyone vs Trump issue. If Congress really wanted to fix this, they could. They have a mechanism to do so! If they had come up with a budget 2/3rds of them agreed on and sent that to Trump, he’d be in the unenviable position of either vetoing a budget that doesn’t pay for

I felt the same thing when I tried to play Wasteland 2, which was supposed to be a spiritual successor. I might have been able to get into it back in the day if I’d played it then, but the whole turn-based isometric thing just doesn’t work for me anymore.

Jesus, more to the point, how the hell is this guy almost the same age as I am? I thought I looked old for my age but goddamn, his bald ass head makes me look practically youthful!

I’ll do you one better and beat you to the punch.

And yet, last I checked, Assad is still very much in power. Hmm... now why ever could that be?

Except... they’re not ousting the Assad regime, at all. If that was the goal it would’ve been done in a few weeks like in Iraq, but it’s not. Because that would mean war with Russia. They’ve never been there to topple Assad, merely to contain ISIS after they formed in the power vacuum left when we started drawing down

Here’s the real problem though: Unless you systematically kill everyone who believes how ISIS believes, they will never be “defeated”. The word that describes that would be genocide. Unless ISIS some how develops the resources to support missile technology, aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, or long range bombers,

Huh, funny. You’d think if they had a bill that 2/3rds of of them agreed on, they’d just override the President and be done with it. They’d win and have the high ground. Sounds like they did the bare minimum to pass a bill split mostly down party lines that they knew Trump wouldn’t sign. How big of them.

Yeah it’s almost like they could totally avoid it if they were capable of being ::shudder:: pragmatic and found a compromise. Perish the thought!

That the filibuster has been sometimes used for bad does not make it in and of itself, bad. People always want the majority to steamroll the minority when they’re in the majority. But politics isn’t static and majorities don’t last forever. This is why mechanisms that give the minority not just a voice but a soapbox
