Yeah, I was thinking that something about that whole story just felt extra-intrusive. I mean, we practically go into the bedroom with couples and speculate on their sexual habits, but somehow that feels less intrusive than this story about two people who seem to have things to say to each other but can’t. idk

That picture of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner seems so intrusive and creepy given that they were on a relatively private resort. I am an old...I remember when People was the “classy” celebrity magazine, and now it is just trash.

Once upon a time a story like this had the baby pull himself by the bootstraps to lead his people out of Egypt. Just sayin' wouldn't this baby be better off not having anything to do with this mom no matter what the explanation she gives for this situation?

What is this supposed to mean? If he was the nicest kid in middle school, that she used to play football with, why wouldn’t she be surprised to see him there?

... I think you all who are saying she seemed to be enjoying the situation, are projecting a wee bit. ... as in, interpreting something as you think you would intend/feel it, rather than what the person taking that action, is/would.

I don’t see what you are talking about. she seemed to me to have appropriate

I mean, they aren’t tucked into a corner booth in a dimly lit diner confiding in each other. She’s at work.

But of course, babies are indeed retail products. People purchase them. People even put in their own specs for them - “Yeah, I’ll be wanting the one with the Harvard-grad DNA and above-average height.” Some people even refuse to complete the sale on the factory rejects (see: surrogate baby born with Down syndrome

But isn’t she essentially arguing fraud here? That her ex conned her into having the baby? I mean, perhaps she wasn’t 100% into having a kid, but agreed to implant the surrogate because he wanted them to have a child “for the sake of the marriage.” And then he filed for divorce as soon as it was clear the pregnancy

I think it’s possible for everyone in this scenario to be terrible, except the baby. From what I can find online, the baby doesn’t have Shepherd’s DNA. They used a donor egg. The surrogate says she had no idea the couple was in trouble while she was carrying the baby. Plus, the surrogate ended up being put on the

White gorillas, always trying to make it about them

This is why tech needs more black people and women, just saying.

“What about me?”

I think you’ve touched on a central issue - the timing. Exactly how early in the process she made her objections known is important. If she said Nevermind, no thanks! after a successful implantation and the surrogate was already known to be pregnant, I think there’s a stronger argument to be made for parenthood.

I’m not sure she is. I mean, if you know for sure then I deffer to your opinion, but my understanding was that her eggs were not viable so they had one woman provide the eggs and one woman carry the child. Is that not what happened? (I honestly can’t follow this crazy story.)

It happens every day. However, the kid is often older and wasn’t carried by a surrogate.

I’m concerned about the kind of idiot dipshit moron person who would take medical advice from an actor rather than from a doctor.

I came here to comment this. Like. 5MINUTES? On Sunday I was hungover and kind of sad and I stayed in bed all day and only texted like one close friend and my brother. No one I’m dating, no other friends. Yes, I got texts. I just responded the next day with “ehhh sorry I just felt like hermitting hard yesterday.”

If someone you’re interested in isn’t answering your texts within five minutes, they are either dead, at a movie (and still have manners), or just don’t want to date you.

I think often in cases like this one the difference is purely practical. She can cut her friend out of her life with no complications, but she has a kid with her ex-husband so he is always going to be a part of her life, and it’s hard to deal with someone you hate regularly so for the sake of your sanity you just have

I have very little basis for thinking this, but I always felt like it was a song about a woman in fairly dire straits who was depending on a kind of shitty man to keep her and their family afloat. Like, she loves him, but I never got the feeling that she was blind to his faults. It seems more like she absolutely knows
