they need to learn one thing about the “remasters” they do: include at least ONE toggle. “Modern” and “Original”

The original version of Chrono Cross has been cheaply available on PSP and Vita for years

But since it’s a new IP, in this case it would make more sense to make a completely new game without the baggage instead of making “Babylon’s Fall 2.0".

Seems to me their money would be better spent giving refunds to people who bought the game rather than continuing to sink money into developing it further.

Square-Enix is really inconsistent. You say they’re out of touch, and you’re mostly right, but then look at Final Fantasy XIV. The team behind that are excellent at engaging with the community and giving people what they want. If only they could replicate that success across the rest of the company.

Theoretically the SSD is fast enough to fill the PS5's RAM in about 2 seconds. So potentially it’s possible to have extremely fast load times *and* high quality textures and poly counts.

I just want to play the origin story of Frank Kefka.

I suspect the PC/mobile versions are kind of like a beta test. They’ll iterate on them, and when they reach an acceptable level of quality they’ll release them on console. We’ll just have to wait and see what they count as “acceptable”.

Ah, so it seems they’ve already made that improvement. I’m trying to remember if it came up last time I did a PS4->PS5 upgrade. Pretty sure there wasn’t a popup originally.

Is that because the Series version doesn’t come on the disc? Apparently it depends on the game, but I’ve heard in many cases cross-gen games only have one version or the other on the disc. At least with Playstation games you know what data you’re getting on the disc.

Yes, hopefully it will at least mean they take the criticism into consideration for the PS6.

Sony’s not going to do it now. It’s too late for the PS5. Overhauling it now would take so long that by the time it’s ready there won’t be many cross gen games coming out still. And most of the changes wouldn’t apply retroactively to existing games unless developers patched them in.

For FF7R you only need the PS4 version installed to be able to transfer your saves. Once you’ve done that (or you don’t care about transferring saves), you can uninstall the PS4 version.

Is that Cisco job comparable to being a game tester though? I get the impression that game QA and general software QA are very different things.

Looking at where their office is, I imagine there are some employees who live in the immediate area around it and can walk/cycle into work.

Is that 120k/year for video game QA? I’m not really that familiar with non-game software QA, but as I understand things it’s quite different and much more highly valued (rightly or wrongly, mostly wrongly) than game QA.

Work hard for an item in one game, use it across multiple games.

The “best” bit is the very British way they describe how much energy it will use. Apparently selling 100,000 NFTs will use “the average annual kettle usage of just 11 households”.

Just to clarify that Forspoken is being developed by a Japanese studio. But still a fair point considering the writing team is not Japanese.

But we can’t rule out the possibility it really is Keanu Reeves doing a really good job of acting like he’s a lifeless and poorly-animated digital replica of himself.
