Same! The Brazilian version had all those relationships that were cut from the American dub. I loved Sakura and only understood it was a show "for girls" much later, which only shows how we are formed into these gender roles through the years
Seems very interesting. This is the first time I see a Derrida allusion at kotaku, this site just keeps getting better!!
We are in this together. The only way to resist is to organize, get in touch with friends who also think this man is a menace to democracy and start engaging in political activity
Greece is not socialist, not by a long shot. It’s funny how every argument about the left forgets the example of Bolivia, a country that has increased the well being of its population with years of leftist government. The same could be said of the Argentine of the Kirchners compared to what is being done now by the…
Absolutely wonderful write-up! Writing your own experience by emulating the game makes it all so interesting and is certainly gonna convince anyone who hasn’t to play The Beginners Guide. Hope you the best!!
Exactly how I feel story-wise. But I remember playing it and having fun, even then when I was 15 I felt that the game was incomplete
Rage’s cara were almost like an afterthought. They were really not fun. Mad Max’s vehicles are a lot better I think. They feel powerful and heavy and are responsive to the changes you make to the Magnum Opus.
I felt the car combat was pretty fun, but it also got in a loop and became a little stale. I’m still trying to finish the main story, but it’s getting very difficult to bare the grind
You pointed out a bunch of little defects that I didn’t even remember! But I liked the game, sometimes I did search for it to see if there was any sequel, and now, out of the blue it appears this will actually happen. Really hope it turns out to be good. Overall I think Avalanche can become one of the big names in the…
That’s exactly what I hope for. A sort of balance between the incomplete experience of Rage and the overstuffed world of Mad Max
Wonderful write-up. Thanks for sharing! Bioshock Infinite’s parody had a bit of wonderful sentiment too. Those first few moments made me a lot closer to christianity than I’ve ever been. I think it balanced the sublime and transcendental feelings of faith with its social effects, like racism, prejudice etc.
Thanks for this article. I often wondered about writing some ode to asura’s wrath, it’s such a wonderful action game. And I usually don’t like over the top things like this game, but the complexity, the mitology and the sense of scale made me feel really awesome. Although I don’t know if it would hold if I played it…
Don’t mind him. The reactionarys in Brazil are all trying to diminish her death. It is very clear it was a political assassination, the kind that shows our democracy is feeble. The police are forces of the state, they are the law and yet they act out of the low, with murders and torture (practices inherited from the…
Flavia is a black journalist who is surprisingly pending to the left. But she is not that well known in brazilian circles. She has connections with Marcelo Freixo, a great state representative from PSOL (Marielle’s party). But you’re right, Globo always does a disservice to the people.
She was all that and a socialist, with her electoral campaign she became a big name in the left. And she had everything to become a senator or a governor. It’s a shame, we lost a great woman and a great leftist with a bright future
I think a lot of brazilians would have a lot to learn with you my man. Unfortunately, a lot of poor and middle class support blindly this elite
I think that what really stuck with me was how the game seemed to reinvent itself. First I was really into it, playing it everyday for hours, but somewhere in the middle of Aloy’s adventure I became a little tired of the mechanics (the repetitive hoarding of herbs and parts, for example). It was the sense of discovery…
Oh, it’s so nice to relate to people from all over the world. Here in Brazil we had the same experience of pirating ps2 games, myself included, it made me love videogames even more.
Nice, man. I think perhaps you are right with the preservation of nature, I am not at all against the environmental causes. Just wanted to critique a bit of the foundations of such practices. Really thankful that this text has reached out for so many people and started some nice conversations!
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I hope he is not thinking those half-ass excuses are going to make up for the stupid things he said. But I should know better than to expect educated political positions from youtubers, they are just the angry teenagers who haven’t grown out of their nationalist and pseudo-democratic views.
