Yeah, it’s always funny that these gamer dudes align themselves with these right wing guys who will eventually come for game content once they're done with the other stuff they're going after.

Because it’s fun to watch bad things happen to evil people.

Because the rise of a conservative fascist is relevant to all Americans. And you’re kidding yourself if you think he wouldn’t start policing video games.

Found the stupid person

Wishing you a very Touch Grass if you’re that bothered by an innocuous statement of opinion and/or a mildly inconvenient section of a game.

why even comment like this? so miserable.

Was that esoteric? I thought that was intended, it seemed so natural!

I’m also in the minority because I thought the whole tutorial was awesome, but for slightly different reasons. I appreciated how guided it was. It was not holding my hand, but was very clear about where I should be going and what I should be doing (clear to me, at least) and I loved that. I feel like some games get

I guess I’m in the minority here, but I thought that the Great Sky Island was a genius section of game design. It flowed naturally and felt like it trusted the player to figure it out, and left multiple paths forward for quite a few areas (including that last shrine, which I do admit was a doozy). But all of that was

I dunno, I thought it was fine? It took me probably four or five hours total, and that included spending a while trying to figure out where the third shrine is. But I realized that there are clever suggestions in the environment for more quickly getting around - like after one of the shrines (#3?) there’s an area with

I think that was the unfortunate part of the game so far for me. It made it linear because you had to do those shrines in order since it soft locked you until you understood how to use the ability you got in the shrine, more or less. That being said, I think it was somewhat necessary to at least have the 4 abilities in

In the past 8 years I’ve drifted almost entirely away from AAA games simply because I find most of them boring. The only games I find fun these days (age 44) are made by either very small studios with tight, limited budgets or indie developers. There’s just something about small studios with very limited budgets that

The movie industry is FULL of middle-ground movies, we just ignore them because they don’t get heavily marketed. Same with games. The gaming industry is FULL of middle-ground games that even win top awards, we just ignore them because they don’t get heavily marketed.

A reminder that Guardians of the Galaxy was a fantastic, AAA action game with a tight, focused story you could get through in a few days.

Meanwhile, I’ve put in well over 100 hours into a game like Hades and haven’t regretted a single second because it’s an extremely tight, well-crafted game that’s so easy to play for 20-30 mins in a sitting, drop, and then come back to.

To be fair, it’s doesn’t seem like a fun job. Bad enough that friends, family, co-workers and strangers might judge you, but the actual universe itself does as well?

“these critics are out of touch” - this is such a myopic take. Of course audiences love the movie; it’s a dumb kids movie, made for kids, filled with dumb bullshit that kids like. Same as Minions. That was obvious from the first real trailer. It’s Minions, done with a Mario skin.

Yeah people don’t realize that Rowling wasn’t treading any real new ground with her stories. She wasn’t even the first to make it a magic school.    And you are right that they are mostly wish fulfillment for people who want to be part of the aristocracy.

And it used to be the basis of English education; Look up the Eleven Plus Exam. Deciding your entire education, and thus prospects at 11 years old. And from there, if you were sorted into Public (really private, elitest) schools you might find further classification into the Houses...
