I love Floral Shoppe, but yes, it’s not exactly soothing. I like having it (and other Vektroid) on when I read, but it’s probably best listened to alone with headphones.

Truly believed until today that it was the actual video. I assumed it was like the nine inch nails video for Discipline where the band saw the fan made video and was like, ok, that’s the video, thanks for doing our job for us.

SHIELD is supposed to be a multigovernmental agency (at one point it was the military arm of the UN!), but presumably whatever funds the US kicks in as a member comes from the defense budget

It seems pretty obvious why those ideologies would pop up. When there is a massive depopulating event, the survivors tend to gain far more leverage as labor, and countries with militaries in disarray and half the workers as before would likely have a lot more to gain from more porous borders. It also stands to reason

Do Mickey Mouse's boots taste like I expect they do?

She single-handedly justified the existence of the 300 sequel. I had seen The Dreamers in the theater, so I knew from the jump she was spectacular, but she chews the living hell out of 300: The Squeakuel.

Kirsten Dunst is WILDLY unappreciated. She may not be the best at drama (though I’d argue Melancholia is Von Triar’s best movie. Yeah, I said it, and she’s great in it), but she is probably one of the best non-comedian comic actors out there, up with Rose Byrne. Also, her marriage to Jesse Plemons is adorable. Also, I

On a recommendation, I started listening to Mortal Podkast today, and it is VERY silly. The premise is that each episode, the host attempts to explain the backstory of a particular character to a comedian guest.

Joe Taslim is one of the best martial arts actors working today. If they let him go all out, this may be a very worthwhile movie.

Weird that you'd pick the masked menace Spider-Man to compare to mutants - the one superhero that gets worse press than the x-men.

The track Ceremony introduced me to gamelan music. One of the best video game songs ever.

I think the consensus is certainly (including from the author) that the ENDING of the movie is better than the book, because the book takes the coward’s way out.

Counterpoint - Brad Pitt in Snatch.

I still have the ridiculous sunglasses Pitt wore in fight club, and they sell for like $800 on ebay now! Should I CASH OUT?

I imagine Fincher wanted it to be much more opaque, sort of a reverse Starship Troopers situation (as mentioned above), where Palahniuk’s intention was certainly for it to be a satire and a damning critique of both consumerism AND masculinity, Fincher wanted it to be readable from both sides, unlike Verhoeven who took

People can act as equitable as they want, but when they get money, they very much resist having to give up even a portion to their underlings. Unions for thee, but not for me.

This is why I tell people to watch Killjoys - the better version of Firefly. It’s rapturously celebratory of all manner of alternative lifestyles. Better jokes, too.

I feel like he did the same thing with Summer Glau on Firefly as he did with Dushku. He very obviously has “a type,” and if you’re a former ballet dancer, you were probably Whedon’s target.

You're missing the most important Rambeau information - she quits the Avengers and becomes the field leader for Nextwave, which MUST be a series at some point.

Honestly, if you’re going to cast Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, you might as well just give the whole movie over to the “Night Comes for Us” crew. That movie made my mirror neurons feel actual pain.
