Keep in mind that gas is only 1.80 per gallon in the US because of massive oil subsidies which are taxpayer funded. If oil was not subsidized, it would be more like the EU, where gas is currently averaging about $1.50 per LITER, or $5.75 per gallon.

I’d LIKE to see them finish it, but I’m not so sure. I believe Chapin has a number of slots set aside for lower income students who get scholarships. I had a classmate in college who was by NO MEANS in the 1%, and she went to Chapin on such a scholarship. Doesn’t the author of the article mention how she got in?
