You don’t sue for the amount of money you expect to get. You sue for an amount much much larger, and then it either gets settled for a lower amount, or you win the full amount and then it gets decreased on appeal.

This bowled me over the first time I heard it. It was incredible.

I can’t be the only one who uses the Thumbs Up to express my begrudging agreement in the most derisive way possible, can I? If you get a Thumbs Up from me, you should know it means “yeah, I can wait the half hour extra for you to show up at the restaurant, fuckface”

Yeah, I'm disappointed.

Mine would be:
1) Gin martini (or just, a “martini,” because no one should ever assume vodka)
2) Manhattan/Rob Roy
3) Daquiri (that esquire writer was right - it’s the best test of a bartender’s competence)
4) Bloody (Mary/Caesar/Maria/Bull)
5) Old Fashioned
6) Aviation

Do you think if Trump won his bid for the Bills, he'd be president today?

Sizzling take - the Fab Four (Bonobos, Adam Claytwothousandpounds, Thedge, and Larry Muller Sr’s Son) have released one good song, and it is “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me.”

Frying the ginger scallion for a minute or two was one of the best cooking tips I’ve learned in recent years.

Charly Bliss did a cover of it either last year or the year before right here on the AVClub, and I would argue it’s the best cover the AVClub ever featured as part of that series.

This is the definition of breaking news.

While she’s on TV excoriating the racism of her party, her husband is hard at work perpetuating it online. Quite the dynamic duo!

I feel like an absolute traitor to East Coast oysters, which basically created the NYC/New England economy in the 1700s (Mark Kurlansky’s book on the subject is utterly engrossing), but....you’re right. Kusshi’s are the best oysters. Followed by Gigacups, and then Kumamotos. But, for the money, I’ll gulp down two

I was a medieval studies minor in college, and we definitely watched Jones’ series in a class, because it was about as accurate a travelogue as you could have gotten at the time. Enormously entertaining, too.

I remember walking home from the theater after It Follows and literally having some asshole (actually just a stranger, I’m sure a very nice person) walking slowly behind me to the subway, wearing all white.

LOLOL when we were in college, we watched the ring, and right as the movie ended, one of my roommates surreptitiously called my other roommate’s cell phone, and he went from being across the room to sitting on my lap about as fast as a human can blink.

It's really interesting that Brett gelman always gets cast as a creep. He's actually a remarkably subversive comedian. https://youtu.be/nHfWKGT1gPo

The theme song is stuck in my head so much that I whistle it constantly without thinking.

Nier. Nier Automata.

Chrono trigger truly has one of the all time great soundtracks. Secret of Mana, too, with that one Gamelan piece.

Cmon, maybe don't post book spoilers when the show is going to ostensibly follow the books.
