I go for notebooks with ringed spines, preferably notepads rather than stenographer pads. Yes, it means a piece of metal instead of glue which makes it harder to separate for recycling, but it makes writing on both sides easier.

Editing WAVs/MP3s is relatively easy, including looping or cutting and pasting of sounds. I use GoldWave myself, and it's easy, though it can be done with Audacity just as well.

As I've mentioned in other threads, try K-meleon instead of this unproven browser. K-meleon provides privacy settings that delete everything as you go along or when you close the program.
