Your friend’s anecdotal evidence tainted by bias is convincing. There is ample research showing that medical personnel, particularly those who treat obese people, are particularly biased against fat people.

Except that sugar doesn’t give you cancer.

I think Prufrock is right. Reality television doesn’t care about home brands unless they’re huge — they’re looking for characters that will work for their viewers (and conflict, a lot of the time).

If 2/3rds of the company was worth $5000 and they had no idea that the deal was on the table... clearly it wasn’t exactly successful and they had no day-to-day involvement.

also fine. no one cares.

There is an argument for that approach when the person in question actually has a “viewpoint.” There’s some sense in letting, say, anti-choice advocates publicly explain why they do not support a woman’s right to choose so that pro-choice advocates can respond by publicly explaining why they should. That is at least

Not everyone has a platform worth debating and engaging with them gives them merit in a lot of people’s eyes. Not only that, but there is just no point to it as they have no logical arguments to be talked out of. It’s like trying to debate a flat-earther, Sandy Hook denier, Holocaust denier, Fox host, etc. We have to

this guy wants an honest debate on issues about as much as he wants to bury his face in a vagina.

No. Debating Nazis just legitimizes them. Milo does not deserve to be treated like he has valid opinions, because he doesn’t.

A self-hating Jew is a Jew who is anti-Semitic. Not just someone who hates himself. Milo Y. has claimed to be Jewish, which he is not; therefore, he’s not a self-hating Jew, he’s just a run of the mill anti-Semite.

Laurie Penny’s articles about Milo should be required reading:

The most important thing to remember is that intolerant liberals don’t infringe on this sweet young prince’s right to free speech.

“making the lives of journalists, professors, politicians, feminists, Black Lives Matter activists, and other professional victims a living hell.”

I think the problem is that clothes at many retail stores are really expensive. I can find a cute dress on Amazon for about 2/3 of a retail shop. If I am going to splurge on something special, I’m not going to go to a retail chain, I’ll probably try a local boutique where the prices are similar. I was in Bebe recently

I had a friend in the fashion industry when Bebe was HUGE. The founder didn’t make large sizes because he ‘didn’t want fat chicks’ in his clothes.

Major DITTO. It’s obviously terrible that retail workers are losing their jobs, but another skinny-ass store that never acknowledged larger girls exist bites the dust? Mm.

I was never thin enough for any of the many stores/chains that are closing now. Schadenfreude out the wazoo right now.

Ehh...in theory yes. But empathy only goes so far to combat frustration.

I think as flying gets shitty their jobs get harder. When planes weren’t so packed and there weren’t so many options in economy, it was easier smooth things out by moving someone. Like not make a stranger sit with a mom, a lap baby, and a six year old. And that person wasn’t concerned that another aisle would have

And the reason why people bring the amount of “crap” on the plane is because airlines charge an arm and a leg to check-in items. Of course people are going to try to avoid that by carrying on.
