I was specifically referring to the US models...the point being that we have low end models here as well.

There has to be a term for this. Its like piling more crap on the fire.

Ahg, I need to go buy a FD like right now. I keep putting this off.

Yea, except that consumer reports (not anecdotal) ranks several german brands (BMW, Audi) ahead of all Japanese car makers except Toyota. JD also ranks BMW and Porsche above most vehicles. So when you say they aren’t as reliable “they just aren’t” you are just wrong. Stop drinking the cool aid from people who can

Eh, leather used today is mostly made to be long wearing. My S4 has the upgraded “leather” interior and its just coated. Regular cleaner to keep them nice and no conditioner required. They will probably never look different or age like bare leather does.

Either way, just because the maintenance costs more doesn’t mean its unreliable as the video implys. I think the cost keeps people from maintaining them properly which is where the real issue lies.

We have enough base model German cars that it shouldn’t matter. Everyone who has a 320i or a C300 screams how unreliable they are despite the fact that they do no maintenance. The gadgets and craziness come on the high end models which really only make up a tiny portion of the lease/sales for these brands.

Yea, I got mine cheap so some additional maintenance costs aren’t that bad. I need to do the fluid in the DCT and I am debating whether to do it myself or shell out for it.

When did leather become desirable? Its a terrible option for seats. Hell, most of it is either fake or coated these days anyway.

Used S4 here. No more expensive to maintain than our Honda. I do all the maintenance myself.

Aside from ignoring the other 50% of people who don’t lease their vehicles it wouldn’t explain why taxis and other fleet vehicles are made up of MBs and BMWs in other countries. They aren’t more unreliable, they have (sometimes) more expensive maintenance and we have a country full of people who buy cars without being

Your last line makes no sense. What about the 50% of their sales that aren’t leases? How about the fact that those “expensive” cars represent a huge amount of the fleet sales in their home country? Why would all the taxis be MBs if they were horribly unreliable?

Saw this on reddit yesterday and I just can’t listen to anyone who says that expensive cars are only made to last 3 years because thats how long the lease goes for.

You lost me at force someone else to pay for it. Besides the fact that this is a pipe dream, the person who holds the purse strings owns the content. They can “donate” to a “non-profit” all they want but they will retain control over it. It gets us no where further than we already are.

Drag racing in a circle!

Based on the quote at the end it sounds like they are working on more Apple designed hardware. Software is already there, industrial design and modular is no big deal for Apple. I would hazard a guess that they are working to have heavy hitting storage speed as their last several offerings have along with some of

Man, I’ve always felt that the Panamera could be the last vehicle you ever need. All the practicality, all the power, enough pedigree to tackle a track if you wanted to. The price is steep (crazy steep) but you basically get everything you could ever need outside a truck.

Get sent this way all the time. You would still have to be an idiot to crash trying to drive straight up a hill. Far worse are the rich suburbs you get sent through with steep streets, only enough space for one way traffic packed with tight corners, poor signage and finish it off with a left turn across a 6 lane road

But is anything really stopping them from doing so? Their entire R/D goes to mobile processors. If they ever attempted to make a desktop capable one (that used 120v power) it would probably not suck.

I know the price is insane but if you really could drive the M2, M3, M4, M5, and so on any day of the week as your needs saw fit it at least makes more sense than leasing all of them.
