Its not too much of a mystery but it was always strange that on 80s cars you would find coolant all over the back seat carpeting if your heater core went out. It was common enough that I had a shop teacher mention it in class and it stuck with me when my 87 Regal smelled like Prestone

Man, is there a cheat sheet for what all these sponsorships actually sold? I get that silk cut is cigarettes, Martini was alcohol but there are some weird ones out there.

Drop down fails often and you simply cannot login on mobile. It has sent me to an error screen for the last 6 months even after dealing with thier tech support.

Weird, it may be a county thing as well (LA over here). Our store simply gives you the option to rent (with a deposit) a scan tool. Not sure if that tool allows you to clear codes or not.

You really are something. If I have the filter facing left instead of right because of packaging constraints it is considered an illegal modification. If I fit a clean car with a dirty (but newer) engine and have it “installed properly” that is considered acceptable from an emissions perspective.

I asked last week at a local autozone and was told no. I believe you can rent them now and do it yourself but they cannot provide it for free.

Same, I just found it insane that every other state they just run to the parts store when their car throws a code but CA literally outlawed it.

FC and Rx8 owner here. Still waiting for the signoff on a FD. I never could get into carbed triangles.

If you look really close you can see the apex seals screaming for mercy.

This basically lines up with all my childhood visits to Oregon.

Today they are but you are ignoring 20+ years of cars having to be specifically made for CA. No mention of how they follow CARB standards (because they don’t follow all of the rules, just the basic emissions ones).

How about common sense laws? Your car is allowed 1000ppm. No matter what powers it if it makes less than 1000ppm what do they car if it is a hamster or a V8? Never mind the fact that you can swap in a dirtier engine as long as the engine is newer and has all emission equipment in place.

It’s not like its recommended that you start with an engine rebuild but you would be surprised how simple changing a head gasket is on any car made before 2005 or so. Follow the instructions and be patient and its pretty hard to screw it up. At least, screw it up worse than it was before you needed a head gasket...

Local autozone just keeps your number in the system. No need to even remember the receipt. That being said, the rental cost is usual the same amount as buying the tool new. So you basically bought a used tool if you never return it.

You can also borrow wrench sets or individual sockets. I have a 36mm sitting in a box waiting to be returned.

Marketing. The 2018 GT does the 1/4 in 11.8

The bone stock 2006 would get into the high 13s with nearly 150 less hp. This video is just stirring up bs.

This is where the comment “I wish I had a F40 to wrap around a light pole” comes into play.

Its insane that anyone would jump in to defend CARB. Just look at basic emissions testing in CA for a great example of how backwards it all is. You can have a 80s car spewing NOx from the tailpipe at a rate that would make your eyes water but if you replace the engine with something newer and cleaner but don’t have

1st Gear: I’m really torn on this one. On one hand, I think CA has seriously gone nuts with its insane emissions laws that conflict with just about every other state in the US. On the other hand, I’m a firm believer in the 10th amendment. I may be stuck in CA for now, but at least I have the option to go to another
