Unfortunately, reporting a rape is still rather risky. Beyond having to go through the horribly uncomfortable process of reporting a rape, there is the harassment that they will probably receive, the risk of being accused by the police of filing a false report, and all the other ways that rape victims are mistreated.

I know you mean well, but as a survivor I can say that “trying your damndest to get them to reconsider” is not helpful. Women are already held responsible for their own rape, and you want to make them responsible for everyone else’s as well. And I’m not even going to get into the further trauma of reporting
