It sounds like it was maybe less than just a business that couldn’t keep up. Companies that put their ‘message’ or ‘mission’ at the forefront often turn out to be way less ethically upstanding than your bog-standard business.

It’s almost as though companies that market themselves on their cultural/ethical correctness tend to be run by shitty con-folk and should be looked at with at least as much skepticism as standard, ‘mission’-less companies.
