That's one reason I love having a smart phone. A storm knocked out power out for a couple hours a few weeks ago, but I was still able to go online with my phone (if needed you could always tether it to your laptop).

I did very similar... Except I had the Jadoon doing their Mo-ho-.... whatever line from "Smith And Jones" as a text alert. Everyone who heard it always asked "What did your phone say?" or "What language is that?" I think I also had the TARDIS's materialization woosh...

yeah... It'd be even better if we could specify which folder to put files as we download them... So I could save the Android related stuff to my Droid folder, work related stuff to its folder...

Good point - a blue sun rise/set against a blue sky would be boring... But, the sky is only blue because atmospheric gasses reflect the orange sun's light just right... Yeah, text messages do piggy back on the control channel, but that doesn't exactly make them totally free for the carrier... This argument is going to be moot in the not too distant future. Verizon is releasing phones that are able to transmit both data and voice at the same time (like the HTC Thunderbolt). They're also working on phones that will transmit voice VoLTE, over their 4G network, so it'll actually be two different data streams.
