It must be nice to imagine a dystopian world where no one gets dystoped.

This is idiotic. The image is provocative and is reminiscent of lynchings of black Americans, but now the target is of a different background. It doesn’t take a genius to connect these dots or to understand the messaging.

I get that but as someone who has read comics all my life, If I walked into a bookstore and saw this I would think that the story would relate to the cover. (I know this is not always true but more often then not it is.)

That would presumably be the story inside the comic.

Wouldnt the story in the book be that something more?

Comics should push the boundaries of taste, especially on a series like this where the whole point is to shine a light on ugliness. Not a fan of hysteria-induced self-censorship.

So, we are literally judging books by covers now

Presented without context? It’s not plastered on a bumper sticker or a billboard, it’s on the cover of a graphic novel. You know, the thing you read to find out what that cover is all about? What do you want, a friendly bubble that says “Hey idiot, this is bad, we think this is bad, and in this comic we talk about

Beth, the term is “hanged.” Meat or laundry is “hung,” people are “hanged.”

Personally, I would have bought the issue from the cover’s statement alone. If it offends, if it bothers — good. That’s what seeing someone lynched is supposed to do. If people have forgotten that the consequences of bigotry and hate are images like this, it’s better they see it on a comic cover first than from a

History certainly is terrifying to those who want to pretend it never happened. The truth is ugly - it needs to stay ugly, and visible.

I’m astonished that the sword did not break when it hit the wooden railing. Stainless steel cut blades like that generally snap if you sneeze on them. Okay I exaggerate but that sword is now legendary if it survived a missed swing like that.

I don’t think they bought it to be a hero, nor do they planned to ever be a hero. They were just put into a situation were they had to chase away a man, and that was the most intimidating looking bludgeon they had on hand. I’m pretty sure they know full well it isn’t a real fighting sword.

Every time the shooter is white, we get two dozen think pieces about ”toxic white masculinity” and “white fragility.”

The congress shooter white. wall to wall coverage. The UPS shooting in SF, Asian. national coverage, the Orlando workplace shooter, white. national coverage. The Wies Market shooting in PA. White gunman, national coverage. If you go into a workplace and shoot up employees it will get covered. The media doesn’t give a

You’re misunderstanding the situation. I have a job. They’re taking 100% of the money I earn at work, claiming it’s “theirs,” and telling me if I move out, I am allowed to take NOTHING I have currently at home, except the clothes on my back. I don’t even have access to my own bank account, it’s in my father’s name.

I’m not the one handing out such insipid “insightful” critiques that no one asked for. “Wahhhh the internet isn’t letting me harass a journalist” seriously dude go eat glass

I’m in almost the exact same situation as the girl in the first story, which is why I’m currently not dating anyone. I’m not bipolar, but I’m living with parents who make up for their own insecurities by infantilizing me and playing up my social anxiety and mild learning disability to “our sweet baby can’t function on
