A lot less interesting.

They can’t create energy. They don’t have to be mechanical engines, they just have to obey conservation of energy.

People cheering the death of physical media are either not real movie fans or are idiots who can’t see the writing on the wall. You can pry my physical media out of my cold, dead heads.

As a fan of movies, everyone cheering the impending death of physical media while championing streaming as the way of the future while simultaneously taking away movies from the available pool of culture - I only see that as a bad thing.

The days when you could find large numbers of good movies on Netflix are, sadly, gone. If you don’t care about their original content (and I mostly don’t), it’s not nearly the service it used to be. My wife and I still use it enough to make it worthwhile, but I’ve basically given up ever looking for studio films that

I generally don’t pay attention to and/or use Netflix, but with some time while my current video project rendered, thought I’d fired up a friends account to check out some flicks while I wait. Since it’s relevant to the video project, I go look for Halloween IV. Nothing. Okay, widen the search to just Halloween. Still

Thanks for trying to minimalize my experiences.

When people are looking for a solution to a problem, they seek out examples of something that worked. I shared what worked for me and my wife. Perhaps someone can do the same thing and it will help them. If not, they’ll have to look elsewhere. Criticizing people trying to

Well, then he was eating crap at a caloric level that allowed him to stay thin. You can eat crap and stay thin as long as you’re not consuming a caloric surplus. Just like you can overeat healthy things and gain weight.

Exactly. The vast majority of people who are overweight by BMI are not overweight because of muscle mass. In fact, BMI actually tends to under-report those that are unhealthy by bodyfat percentage. That is, that there are more people that are in a healthy weight range by BMI but have body fat percentage that is too

Could you not even be humored to read my entire comment? I address that very fact. And yes, muscle is heavier than fat. Most “overweight” people aren’t so because they are bodybuilders.

I didn’t really have any ultimately weight-related issues, but the writing was on the wall and some underlying concerns were exacerbated by the extra weight. You’re correct about your greater point though. Exercise is hugely important and there are a lot of “skinny” people who are very unhealthy also. But research

Building a relationship comes from trust and tolerance. If you’re not a very trusting person, or if you’re a “this isn’t working the first time so hell with it” person, relationships can be difficult to develop.

The next time you find a date, instead of cutting him off, force yourself into a few extra dates. Guys don’t

Being a man has nothing to do with it. Accurate is accurate regardless of the gender that explains it. The concept of a “jury of your peers” has no basis in America. People who say they want a jury of their peers are saying they want a system of nobility to be established.

Bananas don’t contain added sugars. And they contain fiber (the carbs you mention), which helps you feel full and doesn’t get digest. They are a better alternative to a pack of cookies, or Doritos.

Nice try, but I intentionally put in the entire thing at the end about BMI not being perfect and outlining more clear stipulations to head off people like you. At least be clever if you’re going to troll.

Yes, you heard it hear guys don’t eat bananas they will fucking kill ya!!! Keep on with those pink snowballs w/a side of jimmy dean microwaveable pork patties!

BMI isn’t precise but it is relevant for the vast majority of people. I’m 5'10 and 210 pounds. Take a guess if I am a super fit athlete or just a guy who let himself go.

I understand and agree with you on all those points, but this article is doing everyone a disservice by placing none of the onus on personal responsiblilty. We all have unique burdens in our lives, but we owe it to ourselves to try to overcome them. Being healthy isn’t just a lifestyle choice, it is life itself.

Is there a way to normalize body positivity without normalizing unhealthy weight standards?

Is there a way to normalize body positivity without normalizing unhealthy weight standards? The average woman shouldn’t weigh over 176 pounds not because of patriarchal culture, but because it’s unhealthy and demonstrably leads to negative health outcomes. The same goes for overweight men. One of the negative outcomes
