Not sure what you mean by “far more rare.” Even the lowest estimates have 2% of rape claims being false, and other estimates go up to 10% or higher. Estimates are generally in the single digits, but I wouldn’t call that super rare.

You realize we can care and do something about both the dearth of unprosecuted/investigated rape cases in this country AND worry about/do something about clear cut cases of false accusation right? Here are some more in the “numbers game.” Some of these men did time for some woman’s false allegations. So yes the justice system does take these things seriously, and in some cases too seriously. Rape and Murder are the two crimes that are taken seriously but still (hopefully) require actual proof.

Someone made a good point on another forum that those who threaten rape should have legal action taken against them. IMHO, that’s like pointing a gun at someone and threatening to shoot; you’re basically taking their life away if they’re found guilty.

Somehow, I don’t think being banned from a ride-sharing app is enough punishment for this. If she had done what she had threatened, this guy could have spent decades in prison. Surely some crime was committed here?
