I think that’s the film that landed Brad Pitt the role of Tyler Durden in Fight Club. Jeffrey Goines was definitely a proto-Tyler, right down to the terroristic behavior.

While I totally agree that we should try to market intellectualism better (a philosopher named Alain De Boton has a lot of good stuff on this), I’m a little iffy about the “treating people arbitrarily deemed ‘stupid’ as subhuman” thing. I’m not sure where you’re from, but in the US we don’t treat the stupid as

I have no idea about a movie version, but the book is worthwhile. All of his are. Let the Right One In, Harbor, Little Star, Handling the Undead, all deserve a read. Haven’t picked up Let the Old Dreams Die yet, but fully intend to. Not sure what it is about Lindqvist’s writing, but it works for me. I think it’s that

I’m curious why you think so. Not being sarcastic, I’m actually curious, as I’m undecided on which is better. Especially since they’re so similar.

Now I, too, have read “Dogscape,” and...well, I can’t unread it. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Not sure of much now, really. Not anymore.

Given how many no-goes there were with a Preacher film, I was starting to worry it would never be adapted, but here we are.

Sounds good to me. As long as it’s Ennis and it’s fun, I figure it’s worth a look.

That’s good to hear. I’ve been meaning to track down his run on the Punisher, just based on the strength of Preacher. Have you read those?

I really dug the comics when I read them years ago. Been thinking about rereading them to see how it holds up. Those 13 seconds may have just made that reread inevitable. And soon.

Thank god they put that illustration with one of the funny stories. If they hadn’t lightened the blow, I might still be huddling beneath the covers terrified it will be there if I peek out.

I see your “The Thing” and raise you a Harold:

Silence, you fool! Do you want to get “their” attention?! “They” will destroy us all!

This should happen, because it’d be so easy to do. Just cut out all of Richard’s Ayn Rand speeches and such, and boom, you’re down to five books total.

“Why there is a Black Power Ranger but no White Power Ranger, and Obama’s role in that decision, tonight at 9.” -Fox News coverage

Look at all that jargon and wannabe lawyer speak. My guess is he’s a wannabe/ex-cop. Or, if current cop, soon to be ex-cop when his own violent outburst against a black person is caught on tape.

If you’re gonna police teenagers, you’ve got no choice but to eat clen and tren hard. One of them might look at you sideways.

Not true! I once saw a caveman kind of tribal-stomp-dancing at the foot of my bed. Granted, I was like 6 or 7 years old and had just woken up in the middle of the night and was almost certainly still dreaming/hallucinating, but still.

Stop. Too scary.

Now playing

“Not sure where you heard that but you need to get your facts straight before you publish.”

I didn’t see anything in the rules suggesting that the story has to be negative or a downer in any way. Science fiction has always had its optimists and pessimists. If anything, say they get a thousand negative stories and one positive story. One of those is gonna stand out right off the bat. Might not hurt your
