I'm right there, despairing with you. The upside is reality is constantly giving writers more and more fodder for their dystopian fiction, of which I'm a fan. The downside is it's quickly ceasing to be fiction. Not a fan of that AT ALL.

I love this movie and will defend it to the death! Not MY death, of course, but someone's gonna have to die for it.

He really does. He's perfect for it. The casting in general is really well done on the show, but they nailed Varys. I'd say they did pretty well with Littlefinger too. The scenes where they spar are just magical.

Mac and Me! And that's Conan's favorite clip from it. (And everyone else's, too)

I'm so glad there's a gif of that. I must have rewound it a dozen times just to see Varys's expression. That silent suffering, willing himself not to destroy everyone, that's how Varys rolls.

Sure, but what happens when you throw the Titanic into the mix? With or without iceberg companion.

Well yeah. George Washington's ghost waved his hands and put the fire out. (Seriously, lots of the occupying soldier's thought that and got the hell out of there)

...is how the "blind taste test" commercial would begin?

The last statement says "Evolution is a total random process." Random mutation is part of evolution, absolutely. But natural selection determines if those mutations are helpful, harmful, or neither, and therefore whether or not they're passed on to future generations. This process, over many, many generations, is

Here in Oklahoma, we don't go in for much book learnin', unless that book is The Good Book. That means THE BIBLE for you godless lefties and coast-huggers. Bible's the only book you need. Well, that and the Cliff's notes for it, because that sumbitch is LONG!

Good god, that truly would be Hell. Doubly so for anyone with even passing familiarity with real philosophy. There's a reason philosophers and philosophy teachers/students disdain her, and it's not because they loathe individuality. Teenagers and emotionally stunted adults, though...

When I first saw that Oklahoma's was "Gaming Managers," I was really surprised that D&D and video games were so big here. Then realized that I'm an idiot and they're talking about casinos. So there go all my dreams.

There's a lot of crap, yeah. Most of it is. But that's always been the case, since the very first moving picture flickered into being. Time has just whittled it down to the gems. Seriously, go back and watch horror from the 70s and 80s, not just the classics. There was a whole lot of terrible stuff, probably even

Are the horror films less frightening now, or are you just older and harder to frighten? Any kind of horror fan is by now case-hardened, and just doesn't scare very easily. There is a lot of crap out there, but there always has been, even in the 70s and 80s. Sturgeon's Law and all.

That's an unfortunate truth in the industry today. Years ago, I would have welcomed it, because not only did I like to read series, but I preferred writing them. Now I'm exhausted with series, writing and reading them. I'm full up. I'm far more impressed when people can put out a single, really good book, rather than

Have you seen the movie Would You Rather? It's an actually decent Indie horror flick. Without chancing into spoiler territory, there's a scene that really makes me want to learn to hold my breath for a long time.
