Except you’re actually wrong on the law. Intent is very much an element of the crime of theft. It’s an element of most crimes. That’s why accidentally knocking over a tiki torch and setting the deck on fire at your neighbor’s party isn’t arson but setting your neighbor’s deck on fire throwing a molotov cocktail at it w

That’s not how umbrella coverage works. Umbrella coverage literally provides nothing more than higher limits for whatever liability is covered by the base policies.

Charged for service hours? Yeah, that’s not actually a thing. While I’m sure there are a few exceptions, almost service techs in pretty much all industries now charge a flat fee for service. It eliminates complaints from customers that someone milked a job to run up the bill.

Does your car have a system that verifies your buttcheek imprint or something and then flashes a signal to let the police know that it is, indeed, the owner of the car behind the wheel? No? Then you can probably safely assume that if you are driving a car that’s been reported stolen, you’re going to be treated like

Except that’s really not how it works. If it’s stolen from the dealership, the dealer reports it stolen; the police will contact the owner to make sure that they don’t actually have the car and it’s just a mix-up at the dealer, but no, the owner isn’t going to need to sign an affidavit (or anything else).

Or maybe she’s including Halle Berry based on the logic that whether or not they ever use the name, it’s Kyle in the Catwoman suit?

While it’s probably a bad idea to acknowledge this level of familiarity, please allow me to point out that you and your ferret-wrangling friend were probably doing Whip-its, not whippets. The first are small nitrous cartridges used in kitchens to make whipped cream (and in balloons to make stoners laugh hysterically),

I love dogs but wouldn’t enjoy the 5am wake up calls to go walkies in a thunderstorm.

No, on a flying red firetruck. With an eagle and maybe an assault rifle or two.

“Then sanctuary cities could issue limited employment authorization to allow them to work within the city limits.”

How is it that so many people yammer non-stop about “cooperation with federal authorities” without ever sparing a second to wonder just exactly what the cooperation is?

{sigh} Robbery is also a state crime, so local LEOs can make a contemporaneous arrest for that just like they can for any other crime in their jurisdiction. Bank robbery, incidentally, is one of the few crimes that will automatically be transferred to federal jurisdiction as a matter of law.

He’s one of the best historians around. He won the Pulitzer and the American History Book Prize for Washington: A Life as well as a National Book Award for Nonfiction for his book on the J.P. Morgan family. He’s also won two National Book Critics Circle Awards, one for a biography of John D. Rockefeller and a second

He’s no dummy, but he IS a sociopath. He’s the sort of person that’s so damned sure that he’s far more brilliant than anyone else that he either gets cocky and makes careless mistakes or goes all Zodiac Killer and goes out of his way to taunt the police to rub their noses in it.

Except I haven’t really seen a huge mass of folks rushing to Avenatti’s defense. Yeah, there are few people here and there trying to come up with some sort of half-ass rationalizations, but the closest thing most folks are offering as a defense is along the lines of “Well, he’s slime, but look at the rest of ‘em.”

I think it’s safe to say that “modest” and “low profile” are not character traits that he can claim.

To be more accurate, Trump says that he’s been audited repeatedly. We have no idea whether this is true, but given his track record for honesty, there’s every reason to believe that it is not.

Nah, not Jim Acosta. It’s at least even money that he would dearly love to take a few shots at Mitch.

Oh, lord. Yes, please, please, for the love of all that is holy, this. It drives me insane to hear the non-stop blather about this supposedly El Salvadoran gang coming to get us. MS-13 isn’t some existential evil being sent here by those dasterdly brown folks, it’s something that we sent to them in the first place.

Wait, has anyone checked his portfolio lately? If he’s heavily invested in Disney, his love of tourist dollars might be the deciding factor.
