The best thing we ever did was switch to a French Press. My partner drinks decaf, and I drink regular, so we got 2 inexpensive French Presses (at Home Goods, I think). A year later, we even got rid of our electric coffee maker. Who needs it when the French Press is so easy and makes such great coffee!

Yeah, I never peal root vegetables (including potatoes)— who has all that time!? My Dad grew up on a potato farm and I grew up knowing that the skin is where lots of the vitamins are.

Looks like they’re onto me. These “indoctrination tactics” literally mirror the topical outline for my Introduction to Sociology class, where my overall goal is to make sure students leave the class understanding why meritocracy is a MYTH.

Right?? Awful.

This would drive me nuts, only because I read MUCH faster than an audio book reads. I listen to some fiction audio books (driving long road trips), but really enjoy reading better, and I can get through a book faster that way, too. I’m definitely a visual learner, so there’s that.

Standing desks are not feasible options for everyone. I have disc problems in my lower back (L4/L5) which are actually made much worse when my spine extended (when I’m standing or laying down flat). For me, sitting, with good lumber support, is the best option. A standing desk sounds like hell!

Fantastic! I love the Peterson app but when I see a new bird in my backyard, it takes me a while to flip through all the options and identify it. And this identifies about 4 times the number of birds that the free Peterson app does.

Or just your eyelashes and eyes be the way they are— save money and time by forgoing makeup altogether!

Oh yes, bc Microsoft has never done that.

LL Bean’s warranty is indeed the BEST. I had an older pair of hiking boots (15+ years) that I used maybe 1 time each year. They started suddenly giving me blisters, so I brought them back to the store (I grew up close to Freeport, ME, so going to the store is always a treat) and they took them back for new hiking

Yes— you’re right. That should’ve read “In Europe, trains rock!”

Back in early 2001 my girlfriend and I took a trip to England. It was her first time out of the country, but I had lived there for 2 years with my family when I was a child. We planned to spend most of our time in London, and take a 2 day trip to Salisbury (the town I lived in). This was the early days of using the

Professors do a TON of work beyond teaching. It depends on the school someone works at (schools have different expectations), but professors are expected to excel in three areas: Research, Teaching, and Service. Some schools emphasize teaching more, and some emphasize research more, but nearly everyone is responsible

Or just use Waze. I've never seen a speed trap that I wasn't alerted to ahead of time by some kind Wazer.

Just make sure to pronounce it BanGOR (like Bang-Gore) so the Mainiac in me doesn't die a little inside.

I have to disagree with the pet food one. Of course it depends on what kind of pet food you get, but if you get one they sell on Subscribe & Save, then you can save a good chunk of change on it.

Example: We get 5 cases of Wellness cat food a month (we have a bunch of rescue cats).

1 case lists at $32.99. That's $164.95

That's one of the best teaching tricks I know!

This is great and all, but can we start demanding that men stop raping, so women won't have to worry about needing protection?!

Keep in mind that at some schools, the waiting list is NOT up to the professor. Our enrollment system creates a waiting list, and opens up spots automatically as people drop the class. So, students get in touch with me and beg to be added, but I have nothing to do with it. All I can do is encourage students who will
