Given that the official start of spring is 9 days away, this seems like odd timing for this article.  I’ll be taking my snow tires off this weekend.

I wouldn’t let my first kid drive this crap pile.  This car is useful for one purpose:  as an educational mule for a high school’s career center mechanic/body class. As a donation.

This is a $500 car all day long.  CP.

About the same as a healthy adult dying from corona virus

uh, yeah, I’m not so sure about that. Gold is considered a safe “alternative investment” when stocks go south, but it also tracks with the price of oil.

*deep inhale*

...these are found with just a bit more miles for like half the price.

lol

If you want something fun to drive, $20k for a partial is a decent price. Don’t pay that little for a “full-restoration,” or you’re a chump. A fully-restored ‘Stang of this era’s probably gonna go for around $80k. You probably aren’t going to want to DD or hoon that.

Funny bit— reproduction editions of the metal front bumper from the ‘71/’72 cars can be had for around $100. The urethane bumper from the ‘73 car? That’ll set you back about three times as much for the used part. There’s a lot of questionable decisions on this car, but for the most part they make sense as a budget

I know they *want* 40k, but it’s crazy that you can get a brand new, 259-mile range electric car for a hair over 25k (at least until end of March when GM loses the rest of the tax credit eligibility).

so if you can’t get the Chevy models for a comparable price to an ICE vehicle, no one is going to buy them.

Right no one wants to spend 35K on what is basically a Honda Fit.

I mean, going upmarket is probably the best way to make a reasonable profit margin on them. No one is going to buy an expensive Chevy, but at least the Caddy’s can keep an average luxury price while baking in the cost of batteries.

Which GM will then say “See!!  No one wants to buy EVs!!!  They only want gas cars!!!”

I guess if you consider labor free.  I don’t.  Just the purchase price of a barn find quality car + professional paint job will put this car at $19k.

I’m sure you were just being pedantic and you probably already know this, but “Mag” has long since become slang for this style of wheel (1970s at least). Even if they were made of plastic and attached to a 1980s Hotwheels car, everyone just called them “Mags” and they weren’t attempting to identify it’s metallurgy.

This one is a ‘73. Does anyone actually care if it has ‘71 parts on it? It’s just a Mustang.

I absolutely can and absolutely will complain about 18 mpg. That is truly unacceptable.

No wonder they kept it covered. It’s bad.
