My commute is only 9 miles on surface streets, but this being Orange County, those surface streets move at 60 MPH and have a metric shit ton of places for folks to turn left in front of you trying to beat the wave from the last light. It’s just not worth it. I don’t even drive my Franken7 much because I leave in the

I motorcycled to work back in 2012-15 but now work in a more congested neighborhood. nope, bike gone.

Because it doesn’t have different kinetics.... it has remarkably similar kinetics. Quite often in nature different things behave in similar ways. Again, look at the CDC and the WHO for this information as their scientists are the ones saying this.

That’s why I left ebola and malaria out of the equation as they are much more geographically tied to certain regions. Even if the transmission and mortality rate are higher in China due to their conditions, that is the only data we have and to treat it any differently would be working on pure speculation.

Yeah, where do you think I got the picture?

SARS and MERS both had higher R0 values than influenza or pneumonia (2-5 compared to around 1.5). The current best estimate of COVID-19 is 2.2 based upon observed cases in China. There’s no reason to NOT consider CONVID-19 to have a higher transmission rate than influenza. We might not know the 100% accurate number

You don’t stop an epidemic AFTER it’s spread. You’re advocating for closing the proverbial gate after all the proverbial cows have run away. COVID-19 has a higher transmission rate than influenza or pneumonia. COVID-19 also has a higher mortality rate than either influenza or pneumonia. What’s worse, there is no

It was true in the past; hasn’t really been the case for a while now.”

It would be interesting to see how much market research has gone into whether or not buyers actually exist anymore. It may not be so much that people are turning away from Harley, as it is that people are turning away from motorcycles and Harley is just taking the biggest hit.

The difference is the flu has a mortality rate of 0.1% and Covid-19 has a mortality rate of 2%. Which means we could see 20 times more deaths from Covid-19 than the flu, provided a similar transmission rate. And that’s what they’re trying to stop.

THIS.  I am glad the cult of Jack Welch seemed to die after the economic downturn of ‘08/’09.  “Good to Great” was wildly overrated.

Totally. If you have not brand loyalty to HD why not buy a better quality for cheaper price pike from Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, or Kawasaki?

Absolutely correct.

“I don’t know the first thing about Harley, but I assumed that they were at least kinda bullet proof.”

Not all that long ago you used to pretty much have to do that with new cars from Detroit. In the 60's a guy in my neighborhood would go under every new car he bought and tighten up as many bolts and fasteners he could access. What he found was .... bad.

Not sure if people are working on them all the time or bolting on more chrome accessories.

Jack Welch was a grandstanding fraud.  He used financial engineering and every MBA trick in the book to raise GE’s stock price--aka ‘shareholder value;’ sounds nice, doesn’t it?--while loading GE up with massive debt from stupid acquisitions.  Just like a couple Boeing CEOs.

The sound of musical guests on SNL is frequently terrible, and I don’t get it. They have a week to get it right. Shows like Colbert manage to do it in a day. But you can’t say not sounding good is on the artist when SNL screws it up

More than a few musical guests have complained about the sound quality in the studio.

Was a writer you mean.  Mulaney hasn’t worked there in years(other then hosting)
